Posted via CB1001-13-15 03:21 PMLike 0 - PS: Here is where the situation is different than last year. Whereas before I had to reset Wi-Fi myself on my BlackBerry, now, it does tend to reconnect on its own. Here's the log from the reconnection -- a few moments after the previous post.

- kbz1960Doesn't MatterYou can change what channel your router is working on. I think mine was on 6 and I changed it to 10 I think. It's been awhile. I used a program to see what others in my area were using and there were many on 6.

- Well it happened this morning. It's very strange. It starts when I notice a lag, then I see "4G" instead of the Wi-Fi symbol. A notice appears in the hub:
But when I check Settings, it shows as connected
Next, here's the log, which doesn't seem to reveal much at all. I should finish by saying, eventually it does reconnect, on its own. Usual period for all of this from start to finish is 5-10 minutes, sometimes more.

- kbz1960Doesn't MatterI would change the channel from auto, get a free WiFi program to show what others around you are using, to a less used one and try g only. You can always change them back. Not sure about the power.Ursus Rufus likes this.01-14-15 11:43 AMLike 1

Yes, no disconnect event is shown, or has shown, that I have seen, in the Log. There has been a disconnect about 4 times today, & each time the Log shows nothing.. And the phone says Wi-Fi has dropped.
Strange about the low signal. I was only one room away from the router.01-14-15 01:07 PMLike 0 - Did you have a big electrical apparatus between the router and the location where your signal dropped ? Something like a big fridge ?
Well, I guess we can now say that the first issue was the TKIP encryption type, as the new problem is something else, linked to the Wi-Fi signal strength.
By the way, it would be a good idea to buy a good old Wi-Fi router (Why not Linksys ?) and connect it to your actual one (on which you disable the Wi-Fi of course). This router has good antenna, various settings, and large field of action.Ursus Rufus likes this.01-14-15 01:15 PMLike 1 - Hi buddy
I'm subscribing as well to see if I can understand any of this and help you out.

I'm going to start looking into a regular router, see what's available. It does seem a bit strange to have a router attached to a router, but a reliable signal for all devices would be great.
Oh & no fridge or anything major between where signal dropped. The W35 is placed just inside a window, by itself, with no other appliances around. Clear line of sight to the tower, which is on a high hill about 5 km distant. And yet, I do see fluctuations in the signal, as indicated on the face of the W35.
While I'm looking for another router (you recommend Linksys eh?) I might as well keep my eyes open for a better deal on the service provider / router itself. Not like I have a lot of choice though, in my area. I won't even mention what a monthly bill comes to. Suffice to say, no Netflix for us.01-14-15 03:32 PMLike 0 -
To be honest though, I feel bad about keeping this poor old thread going.
It has become a bit of a Wi-Fi vegetable drawer, full of mysterious contents. LOL.
The problem is, I think the difficulty I'm having now, as Josh mentioned above, could be different than the one I was having last year. Nonetheless:The only time there was no problem for my Z30 on Wi-Fi, was that brief period (about 2-3 weeks) when the router was on WEP. And again, no other devices on the premises have had any trouble at all, during any of the past 12 months.01-14-15 03:40 PMLike 0 - kbz1960Doesn't MatterI don't think a firmware update would bother your setup but! Sometimes it does take the settings back to factory. I would say if I found the right router, I searched Rogers w35 and it came up with an eicson that 2009 is the latest.

Have wondered about installing updates. Not sure if that's something I'd need to check with the provider (Rogers) first. I shouldn't think so, but one never knows.
There doesn't seem to be a button that checks in the web interface. See photo below.
If I found the right one the last update is from 2009.
