I am disappointed with camera quality of z10 100-1 model. Camera on 100-2 is far better in terms of quality and colour. Why so much of difference?
Is stl100-1 a low quality product?
Both working on same os. Pictures taken by 100-1 are quite dark and low on colours. Pictures taken by 100-2 are brighter and good colurs. Both are clicked together. There is a huge difference.

Also never heard of that. There are a few settings that might alter that so making sure settings are identical is a good idea and of course OSs the same and either both official or both leaked. I suppose there may be minute differences in each camera but not likely the phone model as much as it is simple tolerances in manufacturing of camera modules. This should be hard to detect visually. Do you have any image related apps on one and not the other? Either one have a drop where the other didn't? Clean lens on both? Are there cases on them? Both same? Are these flash or non flash pictures and have you tried the opposite? Can't think of any bother questions.
The Z10's camera I rate as 'ok'. Son's iP5 and iPad kill it. 100-3. Hey its a lens smaller than a baby's pinkie.
Both models should have the same part number for the camera and technically should function the same. Differences in the photos doesn't mean it's all the camera's fault. There are lots of variables.

Sometimes manufacturer tolerances or even the batch they came out from can make a small difference. Simple OS update version can also make quite a different with these things so you are so right about variables in general. Lighting conditions, camera angles, settings and all. Like one person who responded also suggested, we can take the photos and look at them on same computer screen to get a better judgment.
In my opinion the 100-1 seems more natural (even if a little too bright) than 100-2, whose colors seems to much "sepia". However, the only difference between 100-1 and 100-2 are CPU and GPU (if I remember correctly, 100-1 has a slightly better CPU and 100-2 a slightly better GPU) and Miracast (included in 100-2 but disabled): cameras are identical. The problem is surely the firmware version (check if they are the same) and maybe different settings or the flash itself.

Looks like 100-2 has some problems with White Balance, it's shifted towards warm colors. To me, 100-1 looks better, even if colors are slightly washed out, but that could be due to use of flash
The stl100-1 photo seems brighter.. either way both problems with colours or brightness can easily be fixed with the photo editor in less than 10 seconds
