Instead of trying to lump everything together in a huge 10.2...10.3... Toast notifications are a huge deal all have worked flawlessly for me since the first leak I installed! why not just release it like an app on app world?? Then everyone would get it no matter the carrier!! Do like one minor update per month, keep people interested!!

That wouldn't work. You can update World, maps, maybe even browser this way. But you can't update core functions, BB world has no access to it. And even maps and other programs are sometimes probably core changes dependant.
Also core changes would require restarts, and that would annoy everyone

That's like saying that you can't update a windows 8 pc through its app store. 8.1 proves that it's possible.

I think by 1-0.3 things like that will be done... right now at its early stages it should keep evolving.. but this time next year it should just update its apps within its self

I mean just more frequent less complicated updates.

So they haven't built BB10 in such a way that third party apps can add features to the basic OS? Apps can add themselves to the "share" menu for example, so I don't see why BB wouldn't be able to push out updates to core OS functions like email functionality, etc...

I don't see any reason why BB couldn't update the picture viewer, media player, etc... with BB World updates.

O/S updates require carrier approval unfortunately. Hopefully in the near future blackberry can flip off the carriers and implement it.

That's the point. The camera for instance, it's an app at least in my opinion. So update it by it self...

I guess it would be plausible to update everything except the radio files.

We could have been using the wolfram alpha integration on the z10 by now.
