because BlackBerry has more to offer the world then the sameold Android device does.

the android runtime was only supposed to be a simple way to bring more apps to the QNX platform given QNXs POSIX abilities which have always offered QNX the ability to run LINUX applications to make it easier for QNX users to import apps, MAC OS does this with Windows software

My understanding is Android doesnt have the level of security or performance that bb wants, and having an android runtime opens up a lot of apps from that eco system / makes it easier for others to port to bb10.
Yes. Opening up the app ecosystem calls for tighter security on BlackBerry's part. The app world has long since been polluted with nut job apps ported over by lazy "developers".

Which a why I am learning how to code for BlackBerry 10

I like BlackBerry's approach. They're literally taking what they want from Android and disregarding the rest.

In a sense, BlackBerry has turned Android against itself by using its open source nature to better its own products and deter people from Android.
