I think the OP is saying why hasn't there been a video of someone comparing a legacy device to that of a bb10 one, like say a 9900 to a Q10. A video like that would really help people lose their negative stereotypes towards blackberry, since when most people think of blackberry they instantly think of slow browser, battery pulls, etc.

    Because no comparison?

BB10's moved on to being compared with iPhone and Android now.

A more of a video of the jump from BBOS to QNX could be appropriate but not a direct comparison.

The title of the thread was pretty obvious what OP was trying to ask..

I think a comparison video between the two is would be a interesting thing. Hopefully, someone here will do one.

The problem is that when people think of blackberry they think of legacy devices, not bb10. There should be a video out there that clearly shows the difference between the two OS's ti prove to the androids and isheep that the blackberries they remember took a major overhaul of improvement

Because a side-by-side comparison would only underscore the failings of BB10 which, sadly, compares poorly to iOS and Android while lacking many of the attributes which made BBOS distinct.

So why don't you take a crack at it.
I'm sure a lot of people would watch.
Or maybe contact one of the mods and they could.

So you wouldn't point out the 100000000000x faster browser than legacy devices, the ease and speed of navigating through the phone and apps, or the glory that is the hub? I don't see too many failings there

I agree with this 100%. My Q10 is just ok...but my 9790 was an efficiency machine. it'll be at least 2 years before blackberry catches up to BB7 in terms of functionality and efficiency.

And you expected a OS built from the ground up in under 2years to have the same functionality as a 7year old OS?

I would love to make a vid, but sadly, I don't have any os7 phone. And no, I won't buy one.

No fine sir, just stating my thoughts.
I do not have an old device either.
Maybe someone will donate one to Kris and he can put it on his youtube app so we all can have a good look at the differences.

Not to remember them that there's an overhaul of improvement. Basically a video like this is to tell the people that this thing is completely different. Believe me, there's thousands of people here that still think BlackBerry is the same thing. They simply haven't seen what this OS is capable of.

Maybe a guy demonstrating how you play nova on your BlackBerry 9900. And how it looks boring like a game boy color and moving the UI around fast just so people realize is indeed an old BlackBerry boring just for business people device. And then show Nova 3 on the Z10 and how the graphics look so awesome, or Batman which has impressive graphics. How you can have 3 or whatever games you want open at the same time and change between them on the fly by swiping. Watch some movie on Crackle and some 360 panorama moving the picture around and what do you think it happens when someone sees that?

That's like a punch to the face. Boom! THIS is BlackBerry.

I expected a company with as much experience as RIM in the mobile market to launch a better initial product. Especially for as long as they were working on it.

It's not my problem that BlackBerry sat on their backsides while the whole world innovated and then had to rush a new OS to market or go out of business.I forgive them nothing because the OS is new or was built in two years. It should have been built five years ago and been mature and useful now, rather than the buggy, maddening product we see before us today.

Lack of planning on BlackBerry's part doesn't constitute increased tolerance for countless errors on my part.

Somewhat surprised that you would make this argument, usually reserved for the fanboy set.

As to the video idea, I don't think companies usually show a video showing how their new product is better than the old. It sort of disparages the old. When Honda has a new Accord, they don't show a video about why the new Accord is so much better than the old Accord. Maybe they would show a video about (or mention) how the Accord is better than the competition (Camry, in this case), but sadly in BlackBerry's case, this simply isn't the case. The glitchy buggy OS10 wouldn't stand up to iOS' near flawlessness in a video demonstration, unless rigged.

The browsing experience is a definite improvement over BB7 but when compared with iOS or Android, it is only marginally superior. The only factor which would effectively distinguish BB10 is the hub but, sadly, that isn't really enough.

No, I expected an OS built from the ground up in under 2 years by the same people who built the 7+ year old OS to actually do one thing: BUILD!!! Build on the functionality, experiences and attributes that those 7+ years of experience would/should have provided. You pretend as though BBRY is some start-up that was just launched. It is not.

Imagine: an R&D lab with over 70 million active (and in some cases rabid, loyal and experienced) users who stuck with your product despite the arrival of well-marketed competing products. That would have been a priceless advantage for any tech company that listened, sought feedback and surveyed. Your R&D advantage would have been so obvious because you could bank on real life experiences from actual users.

Instead, BBRY (under the leadership of Thorsten Heins, I might add) built something supposedly from the ground up and expected consumers to press the rewind button to some bygone era with a clunky OS loaded on hardware that barely keeps up with other devices already on the market (not to mention with specs clearly inferior to devices that would become available just a few months after the launch of the Z10/Q10).

    The results?

    - A customer base that continues to dwindle and where the majority has not acted as rabid ambassadors of your new product.

    - A broader consumer market that doesn't see your products as serious alternatives to competing devices.
