It drives me nuts. When someone sending me longer SMS messages they arrive in pieces and often those arrive some minutes after. I have to wait to read the complete message.

I am running 10.2.1.1925, any way to fix it? What I do wrong or is is a bug?

Didn't you already start a thread in this? Why are you starting another one?

Sms has a 160 limit that's why you get it in pieces.

Sorry this is my first phone when a large SMS coming in pieces and often have to wait 1-2 minutes if the other missing pieces arrive!
Even my first phone ever could handle this better than OS10.2.1.

This must be a bug. I am using 1926 Radio.

I don't think this is a BlackBerry issue since I have also experienced it way back Nokia's Symbian S60 v2/3 phones. It's most probably how your carrier handles long SMS. As it has been said, SMS has a 160 character limit that's why you get long messages in parts.

I would agree that it may be the way your carrier deals with SMS messages being broken up into several message groups and re-combining them.

I don't have that issue on AT&T. If an extra long text is sent to me, I get the whole message in one shot on my phone pretty quickly. My wife and I text fairly often and we use only SMS for it. We often send texts that are much longer than 160, but AT&T has no problems with it. I'm sure it goes out as separate 160 character texts, and comes to phone that way, but by the time it's displayed, it's all back to one long message.

I have a Z10 running 10.2.1.1925. She has an iPhone 4. But it's worked that way for me since I got this phone and through several OS loads of leaks and the official for the first week I had it. But it was the same with the 9800 I had before the Z10, and the 8100 before that.

Short Message Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia this is a restriction of the sms protocol and has nothing to do with BB.

Long sms messages are split at the sending device before transmission. The delay could be at any of the main stages of the message transfer.
    1. Transmission from rhe sending device.
    2. (Possibly) transfer between sender and recipient networks.
    3. Transmission from recipient network to target device.
    4. Display on target device.

The only one for which you can blame the receiving phone is #4. From experience even a short sms may take up to 2-3 minutes to be delivered, even on a simple dumbphone. Most are delivered much faster but just occasionally the network lags.

Hm ok, then I have to check with different carrier simcards before I blame the phone. I was reading some people have same problem with slit SMS and pieces arriving late with os 10, that's why I think it's the phone/os.

This is the result of companies not flowing protocols, which AT&T often does - it spoils people.

I received them too, sometimes. It depends who sends them and what type of phone they're using. I noticed that the older the phone, the more likely I receive the messages broken up. My friend with an iPhone sends me long messages and those appear fine. So I'm thinking it may also depend on the phone type from the person sending the text.

Probably also depends on how quick the NSA can read them and send them on...

I never have this problem on rogers. I had the problem on my curve (2650?) but never again after I upgraded to bb10. Depends on what network you're using also, I was using EDGE which is sort of a 2g. On LTE I get sms messages before they even send!!!!! Lol

I don't think SMS are transmitted using LTE, at least not yet.

They transmit over 4G, do they not? I know phone calls go over 4G because when I make a call it bumps me down.

SMS is 7x 160 then it will changes to an MMS. You can watch the count as you are creating your msg. I did a test msg of about 999 characters it came down all in one.

Most carriers turn long SMS into MMS and deliver it in one message. Check with your carrier to see if they support this, and check your phone settings to see if your client has the option checked, if exists.

Well at least it's blackberry's fault with bb10, that every piece of that sms gets its own tone. So when you get an sms with 350 chars, it rings three times which is so annoying. With my bold (same carrier, same plan) it was separated to, but only one sound because it recognized that it was basically only one sms.
