- I liked Flash. I finally had a decent authoring tool for it. I used the authoring tool to make flash files for my company web site. It was beautiful. I even used flash video with flash video controls for my video work samples. I hated Adobe for caving in to Steve Jobs' decision to kill Flash on the iOS devices. Flash neatly filled a useful niche. When I upgrade to 10.3.1 I will not be able to see my own web site on my phone -- until I enter this century and take a little time to update my site. Which will make my site fully visible & useful once again to -- well, to the rest of the world.
Like it or not, HTML5 and javascript are now the primary means of creating viewable content on the web. Fewer and fewer devices support Flash. Everyone is clustering around newer standards. I may not like it, but I can either sit around being Right And Invisible or I can move forward.Last edited by RJGnyc; 02-24-15 at 10:11 AM. Reason: grammar

- I just updated my Q10 to 10.3.1. Here is my reaction:
Upgrade just finished: This is going to be cool!
Hour 1: Why didn't my contacts come through?
Hour 2: I may have to revert, this is laggy and my Android apps don't open.
Hour 3: Some of my Android apps work now, but I need to put Snap back on; crap! Snap Beta 3 just crashed on me!
Hour 4: Snap Beta 2 works fine, more apps work, where the hell are my contacts?
Hour 5: THERE'S all my contacts! All my Android apps work! Firefox works! This is awesome!
Hour 6+: It feels like I have a new phone!
I see the issues people have with the calendar, but it's slicker than many give it credit for in my opinion. The smaller icons are a little annoying but manageable even on the Q10 screen. And holy crap, once everything syncs up, fast as greased lightning. I'm still amused how fast the OS reacts.
This is my experience. Someone else's will be different. The OP's experience was different. I'm sharing what I experienced so it's clear that one might want to take some time and see where it goes in the course of a day.
Posted via CB1002-26-15 12:15 AMLike 0 - What the hell is wrong with Blackberry. I updated my Q10 last night to 10.3.1 and I feel sorry about it. Visually it looks like a backward step by Blackberry. Now the icons and everything else are smaller and more look like older OSs. It really hurts when I use my phone now. The Blackberry 10 was such a fantastic OS and visually so appealing, beautiful, and easy to use. But now nothing looks nice as it used to and also everything smaller than before and more difficult to use. Please fix this problem and make the 10 OS as great as it was.Tatwi likes this.02-26-15 12:56 AMLike 1

I don't think anything is wrong with what you're saying. I'm simply not on board with you. There will be people who feel like you and people who will not. What's important is letting each other know in a useful way so we can have a better understanding moving forward what we want collectively.

Those who are still suffering with low ringtone volume with 10.3.1 update, can you please try this.
Settings>
Notifications>
Profile: Normal>
Customize App Notifications>
Phone>
1) Activate "Override Profile Volume" & 2) Drag & raise volume level
I hope this helps02-27-15 07:58 AMLike 0 - Adobe abandoned flash, it's time you do too.
Posted via CB10ExplicitPromo and BionicKris like this.02-27-15 08:20 AMLike 2 - When a change is a loss of efficiency, that's a regression and a phone goes from being an asset to becoming a liability. And that's a hole in the "suit".
When an app as important for business as the Calendar only syncs one direction and then deletes information from the source, that's a hole.
And if that's a design feature, as you're claiming these things to be, that's idiocy in my opinion.
There are plenty of long lists about the "holes" in this new OS in the forums here, so further elaboration would be redundant.
The only accurate part of of her comment, was the admission that OS 10.2.1 was 80's.
So where does that put this OS? In the 50's.
Like many here, I'm re installing 10.2.1, because as lacking as it was, it was at least reliable enough to meet most of the mobile needs of my business.

02-27-15 11:21 AMLike 2 - I wont be upgrading. Flash may be dying off, but its not dead yet and there are websites out there that still use flash and I rely on them almost daily. So for me, I'm happy with 10.2. Maybe one day I'll upgrade and use an android browser but the fact remains that I need flash and will hold off on the upgrade for now. Its too bad. I love Blackberry, but there's always something...u know?02-27-15 11:35 AMLike 0

Can you afford to miss-out on various other refinements, improvements & bug-fixes that 10.3.1 brings? I am personally not happy with missing stabilization mode for image-capture, but I am loving most of other things that 10.3.1 brings.
Although it isn't pleasant for many people for selected few things, but it is still really an UPDATE.
Do think over it and consider accepting and going for it, I suggest.BionicKris likes this.02-28-15 10:21 AMLike 1 - To those who are ignoring update for either lack of flash, dislike for interface or for other reasons, I have a point to raise (without hurting any sentiments or oppose anybody).

Therefore, I expect any feature in 10.2.1 to remain as long as I own my device, since they are what I expected when making the purchase.
I have no expectation of the new 10.3.1 features. There is no reason for me to update since the features I paid money for are now removed.
Also, the new UI is terrible.
Posted via CB1002-28-15 10:52 AMLike 3 - The additional features 10.3.1 brings over 10.2.1 were not part of my purchase decision. The features that are currently in 10.2.1 were.

There's nothing about my Q10 and Z10 experience using 10.2 that I don't like, therefore there isn't anything I want to change. The same cannot be said about 10.3, where there MANY annoyances that I wished were different.
10.3 basically makes BlackBerry 10OS as annoying, ugly, and frustrating as Windows Phone. Note that I don't have a WP device; I returned one for a BlackBerry though.

Posted via CB1002-28-15 09:11 PMLike 0 - Improvements and Bug fixes?? LOL. Sorry but the new 10.3.1 brought no improvements that I found useful but it brought a few bugs I cannot live with. I will be happily staying on 10.2.1 until I read that 10.3.1 has been fixed and works better than it does now.02-28-15 09:16 PMLike 2
- Upgrade if you want. Don't upgrade if you don't. I'm guessing I'm not super picky like the rest of you, as I don't see 10.3.1 as being buggy or unrefined. I can say there are little things I would like to be different, but they aren't so bad that I'd spew vitriol throughout the forums. I just think people want to complain since it's different.
I don't know what each person's needs are, and I don't have any control over the desires of others. Do what works for you, but let other people decide for themselves what they think.

I upgraded via Wifi free up memory to 4G. I have tried all the browser settings possibilities. Some examples : I would open a webpage, then tap on a link within the webpage and it crashes to a active frame. I would share a Web link to an email or remember App write a message in the email or title the Remember note and boom it crashes to a active frame. It's basically unusable. Some apps do not work with 10.3.1 eg Swift Notes. is this because of Flash ?

03-01-15 06:15 AMLike 0 - This OS is pure crap. Why did they even release this? It's full of malfunctions!
Device: Z10
First problem: I open a sms-conversation to send a text, i start typing. A second later the conversation loads and the keyboard goes down, have to restart typing again.
Then: I notice all everybody I added to my contacts through WhatsApp is no longer in my contactlist. neither can I add them through whatsapp anymore
Third: Woops facebook chats and notification no longer appearing in the hub, can't seem to add facebook to the hub either
more: "Active windows" I always turn off my 3G when i'm not using it. I therefore always leave the settings screen active so i can quickly turn it on if i need to. tapping on the app and turning 3G on takes approx. 1sec, but the active frame doesn't seem to show the right stuff?
(e.g.: 3G is off -> i grab my phone, tap the active frame and turn on 3G and then minimize the frame again. Normally this would show 2 blue sliders (meaning both 3G and mobile network are ON) nope. In some way the action happens to fast for the active frame to "update")
And now i just recieved a random "turning off device" notification, after wich my screen went black. 10 seconds later i was able to just unlock it with a swipe and see the battery still had 26% left. wich was again followed by a black screen. Now it's off and it's saying the battery is dead
The list goes on.
Get your sh*t together blackberry, 10.3.1 was supposed to get rid of bugs, not add them. If these things are not fixed in a future update, i'll be forced to step away from BBOS10.
All these bugs and frustrate me deeply, as I thusfar have convinced 3 people into switching to BBOS and i always have to admit there are still bugs.
[/rant]
I updated as soon as it came out, so i guess i've been using it for more than a week by now.Velocitymj likes this.03-01-15 06:30 AMLike 1
