Why do we have so many versions of BlackBerry 10 OS? 10.2.xxx 10.2. 443... aren't we supposed to have the same OS so we'll have uniform user experience?

My BlackBerry 10.1 is 10.1.230 and I think others have different last 3 digits too. What's that for? I'm curious.

Bug fixes and updates are mad all the time. This causes an update in version numbers.

I had more to type, but I will keep it at what is here and ask that you just think about it.

Black well said...every release has bugs over time and when released to the public and reports come back to blackberry they can change things and then release a revised operating system with the improvements they've made..I've found that my stl100-4 works the best with 10.2.0.1371 with unlocked android runtime. I've thought the same thing how can so many leaks be out. To me that just shows how hard blackberry is working to give it's customers the best user experience.

Don't forget that none of the 10.2 versions have officially been released so they don't count.

There are not that many OS versions, most of us could have been at version 10.1.0.4181, software 4633, but carriers do not supply them in a timely fashion.

    Fragmentation?

The good news is that I suspect most customers do not know and/or don't care.

Of course the OS changes every day! But it's typically BlackBerry to give OS updates on a weekly/monthly basis to carriers and employees - and on a regular basis they fall in hands of people who share them with everyone.

BlackBerry gets a lot of feedback - even within this forum - but on the dark side - fragmentation is the other problem!

I think Verizon customers cared from launch until the 10.1.0.2151 release.

This is not just for Leaked OS and 10.2 I'm talking about 10.1 some people have 10.1.xx while I have 10.1.0.273. Is this provider dependent? Aside from Provider-Branding, what else is different?

Yes provider dependent, it's up to them to release it to their customers, not blackberry. Some providers are either very slow or want to test release way to long.

I hope the 10.2 roll out won't be as slow as the 10.1 or I'll install the update on my own.

    So I'm again confused.

Are you saying we have lots of OS versions because the Bugs are mad all the time? Whom are they mad at that we need more OS versions?

When you say mad do you mean crazy cuz I know crazy.

Long story short, we have so many OS versions for two reasons
    - Official OSes are approved by carrier. Some approve version X while another approves version Y
    - We are lucky enough to get leaks from time to time. OSes that are either in beta or that are released to carriers (though not released to the public yet because they are waiting for carrier approval) and that we decide to release so people can give them a try.

When it comes to this part of the board, the leaked and beta OSes you'll find those; leaked and beta OSes. Some might be approved and released by carriers eventually, other may not. And that is why we have so many OS versions around here.
