I've been wondering since I picked up my z10 (and having been a crackberry user for nearly decade), why do people with the same hardware device have different experiences with OSs?

For example, I am on bell in Canada and have had all du jour approved OS updates on my phone with virtually no issue. Now running 10.1 MR and only issue was the sms problem.

But, from 10 to 10.1 to 10.1 MR I've seen major issues on these forums from overheating to crappy battery life to hub integration issues etc.

My question is why? Any ideas why the exact same phone with the same OS versions are acting radically different?

different carriers, different apps, different settings...all that can lead to different experiences.

Same reason you can drive 2 cars the exactly the same and they will be different also.
    Nothing is exactly copied.

But even on a friend's bell mobility phone with same load as mine, he has so many issues and I have virtually none. His battery barely lasts, app world is buggy and he has experienced issues with Facebook and whatsapp integration within hub.

Did you both follow the exact same procedure of loading and have the same apps and all settings are the same on both phones.
There is a lot of reasons.
Tell your friend to try a wipe. And reset everything.

Thanks will do. Just been wondering about this since having totally different experiences than those posting. Your response makes sense.

I've always been of the opinion that phones, and a lot other pieces of technology are sentient, and have moods.

Sometimes they feel like working, sometimes they don't. You get well behaved ones, and spoiled brats who refuse to work right.

Anyone who has messed around enough on phones would most likely agree. Computers are the most extreme example of this, I've seen things happening that shouldn't be possible.

Signal strength can play a role, from the building you work in to where you drive. Android apps sideloaded or from BlackBerry World can kill a battery fast. Programs that connect for updates, location services, and the size and type of SD card or if you have ring tones or wallpapers on the SD instead of the device memory...
Outside of a laboratory with only stock apps running, it's impossible to compare devices and OSs.
