BlackBerry gave up on its own OS. They didn't promote the devices the way they do Android. I have never seen a Classic commercial. I think the Passport was the last BB10 to be promoted. Chen and his goons have been sleeping with the enemies as of late. I bet Jim a Mike would rather shut down shop before locking lips with Google unless they both benefited from it. I don't see this Dtek50 being the Golden Horseshoe that saves BlackBerry. Heck, I don't think their new Flagship will even get the Flag on their Ship flapping in the wind. I refuse to ever help support any BlackBerry Android device and I have that right to do so and that I will. I wish them luck on their venture. BlackBerry can get at me when their Honeymoon and marriage with Android is over and they announce the divorce is final and they back to focusing on in house products.

The A team are of the opinion that BB10 failed because it failed to develop a thriving eco-system.
They think that big ticket marketing would have been wasted money as it would just create more returns.

The B team are of the opinion that BB10 failed because of ineffective/nonexistent marketing.
They think that BlackBerry could have been profitable even without an ecosystem.

    Is this a fair summary?

Also, does it follow that in either case the android run-time was a waste of time and money?
Close. I think that it still needed an ecosystem. It had one even if not perfect.

Android runtime was not a waste because it is keeping a lot of us continuing to use BB10 and buying the phones. I think that it was squandered along with everything else. By not updating it, Chen could no longer market BB10 as able to run Android programs.

But I cannot understand why many people have expects for 10.3.3. It will be only version with small changes. No newer functions will added. In newer version, we might be forced to owe restriction for present function such as BlackBerry Blend.
    I don't have any hope for 10.3.3.

Don't you mean to say that some of us were stupid and installed the developer 10.3.3 OS?

That would be more accurate than blaming your folly on an OS, which was by the way detailed in the write up that it was for developers and not a complete OS.

is there anything very special about 10.3.3 that I should know about, waiting for Marshmallow on my PRIV was obviously drastic.
But what is 10.3.3 going to bring?

I like to tinker, and like choice, so iOS doesn't work for me.

BB10 is very nice, but my needs have moved beyond simple email.

I'm a BlackBerry Android guy now. It has some of the features I liked from BB10, with all the advantages of Android (apps, proper file manager, better browsers, deeper integration and sharing capabilities, etc, etc).

It's interesting, I was an android guy but my smartphone became so slow... that i decided to move BBOS, it's very nice, but the situation is a pity. Hope in a future It will have a better situation.
