They should work on perfecting the best OS ever made. They're only pushing android because it's the only way to get the most up to date apps on BlackBerry hardware. If it wasn't for apps they'd never be losing billions.

Blackberry isn't an app dev nor can they make apps from thin air. All BlackBerry can do is encourage it.

And they failed at doing so. People lost interest in the platform and it's app ecosystem and the platform has sunk.

I don't understand this whole apps thing. My Classic has tons of great "apps". I have Blend, Hub, Calendar, a nice Web Browser. The only thing I see missing compared to the other devices are the vain apps that let you talk about yourself all day or watch movies and play games. What a Smart Phone is for this BB10 device does perfectly and better than any other, and that is communication.

Probably means losing billions flipping and flopping.. You really thing going android will help? Noone is making money on android but Google and Samsung. Last quarter showed exactly the same decline.. anything they do different could have been done while still supporting BB10. BB10 development has simply been replaced with new costs developing and permanently supporting someone else's OS with constant upgrades. BB10 was developed so slowly in the last 2 years, i doubt it even costed as much as they spend today.

I wouldn't say "no-one wants" but I agree that a very significant portion would rather not be running android but feel there is no other option. Plenty for a company like Blackberry to become a key player again.

I think you will get flack due to the wording you chose but I agree with this based on my personal experience. Of everyone I questioned on social media I don't remember a single person saying they chose android or iOS over Blackberry10 due to app availability. The most common answer was "Blackberry still makes phones?". The VERY few that were aware of new Blackberry devices thought they still ran BBOS and operated using a scroll wheel.

Everybody knew about BB10 in 2013. They marketed it hard at first and quickly realized BB10 was a failure. Why do you think company was put up for sale and nobody made any offers besides Fairfax? Blackberry was another Nortel.
