I think it will be a long time, whenever BB is ready to go 64bit. Google also locked down the OS alot more security wise to prepare for enterprise so there are probably more challenges in updating the runtime.

It just moved from 4.2.2 to 4.3 this month with 10.3.1 - and some don't even have THAT yet. Don't hold your breath - it will be a long time.

Chances are, BB10 will have Lolipop runtime before many in-market Android devices (which could be never!)

I would rather them work on getting android apps all headless and integrate with the OS first.

OS integration: - pick a different calendar (sunrise) and a different note taking app (onenote) to be my defaults.
    - have ifttt and tasker partly working with BB10 (i get it's almost impossible to get them fully working but have something like location, calendar, sms, contacts working with them would be good enough)
    - android apps fully working with my PIM apps

Headless: everything shows up in the notifications tab in the HUB

I use a Nexus 5 to "extend" my Android Runtime

On a side note, my Passport now acts as more of a communications tool rather than a toy because of this (I removed all my games and non-essential social apps). I now abuse my Nexus 5 more... and overclocked too. This is why both my phones now have distinct personalities.

Yes exactly, Blackberry deserves to have good quality native app. Most android port sucks anyway. Have you seen Skype ? It's unuseable, it shouldn't even be advertised as 'Skype Compatible'

I don't use Skype on any platform. It's gotten worse over the years even on PC.

Skype is a mess on all platforms. Just read a story yesterday on Techcrunch on it.

Skype is unreliable and featureless on Windows Phone and on Windows 8 Metro Mode (it's the same app, indeed)

if they cut android runtime we'd lose 90% of our apps. No one will make apps much like on WP phone where microsoft is trying their hardest to convince devs with $$$$ to make apps which is barely working. WP third party apps are much more fully featured than BB10 cascades third party apps. Cascades is potentially the best coding to make apps but it still hasn't been utilized to it's potential and won't anytime soon.

Overall, people will end up leaving blackberry.

Works fine for me. There are better apps, but why is it "a mess"?

    Yes, it works. Sometimes.

The problems with it on Android phones:
    1. it crashes (a lot).
    2. it eats battery for breakfast
    3. sometimes it bugs out (was unable to open a chat with a person until i closed and reopened the app)
    4. you get used to it in time, but the interface is very unintuitive.
