It has to be said that WhatsApp is one of the most well-made apps in BBWorld.

Like many of you, I am over-the-moon with receiving the good news in regard to WhatsApp extending their support for BB10.

However; I cannot decide whether it's that I'm happy about WhatsApp, or the fact it was good BB10-related news. In fact, I have hardly been on here much due to the gloomy attunes that have flourished on here recently.

Six months is better than zero months. I'm just looking at it from a glass half-full perspective.

The end result will quite possibly be the same as the previous end of support statement by the developers.

Now you have it for an extended period of time. Which may or may not last as long or longer than advertised.

It's funny how some people just never wanna be happy when someone good is announced about Blackberry. Those same people have said BB10 is dead. Well it's come back alive as I'm sure millions of users who love PKB will now keep their BB10 Classics/Passports for a while longer ill the new PKB comes out.

I don't know, I just don't have the time to use WhatsApp as it is really high maintenance and very laborious.

The reason I'm saying this is because I get plenty of media being shared over and over from the 60 group chats that I have on WhatsApp. That means possibly 100's of the same pictures and videos being shared at various times. I have to go back and delete them one by one and it's really time consuming until I refuse to look at these media shared to me.

If I don't go back to delete them, they use up my built-in memory on my phone thus making it slower or hang.

WhatsApp also is really lacking in features and emoticons too. I just can't accept that. That said I'm still being forced fed with it anyway.

You're wrong. You can set WhatsApp to not download any type of media so there's no issue of it clogging up your phone unless you set it up that way.

One thing though.. As much as I love BBM , it's a pity that they screwed up so much and now WhatsApp just released video calling officially. Except for BlackBerry of course. So glad I'm using a Dtek60.

A little off topic but I also remember the news about the Telus App being discontinued after Nov 09 2016. 6 days later it's still up and running. I guess these developers are not pulling the plug on us yet. We still breathing.

Unfortunately if you don't download these media you cannot see them. Whereas in BBM you don't have to download pictures and still see them. This at least will reduce the amount of media by 70%.

The other thing is that when you download picture A 1 time. Should anyone else send picture A to you again, even with the setup of not downloading media, it will still automatically download another copy of the same picture into your phone. This is the same for video too.

That's why it's really so annoying.

To me it's a six month extension for waiting for a better pkb solution. Either blackberry hardware, another company gets a pkb license, or someone comes out with a perfect pkb case for iPhone SE (again, fully licensed).

I run a pretty active WhatsApp group that has stuck around for years. It's fun as a blackberry fan to be able to switch to my q10 or 9900 occasionally and still be part of the group.

Why did they needed to update the app if it's checked on serverside?
