    It works pretty well, was it designed solely for blackberry? Doesn't seem like. Google maps or any program I've seen on other phones.

    The BlackBerry Maps Application was develooed by Tele Communication Systems (TCS).

    As far as I know the Tom Tom Traffic solution is integrated to provide the live traffic data.

    It seems that TT also iss responsible for the mapping data but individual parts are delivered by local contractors. See About in the app for more information.

    And yes: In some countries its works well but a lot of countries are either still missing data or turn by turn navigation.
