So, could you bypass it? That's kinda scary, if that was the case. Not good for BlackBerry security reputation. Ouch!

Well, we know the iPhone had similar bugs.

Did you do this with just one simple peek gesture - swipe from the bottom while in picture password screen?

Did you try a reboot to see if the issue went away after a restart?

He owned you. It's a fake.

    PROOF:

    1) At a lock screen, take a screen shot of your lock screen
    2) Open your screen shot in your image then swipe it up half way without releasing it.
    3) Take a screen shot of your screen shot while the image app is half minimized.

Actually this was known ages ago. People used to make repeated pictures like this to create an infinite regression of images that if you stared into too long would cause you to fall into it and see the white rabbit! ; )

I know this but some people don't (look up). I prefer spoiling a joke than let someone flame BlackBerry customer service to notify this bug. See my point ?

    I see no proof here...
The minimized "app" shows "Picture Password" as app title.

But still easy to fake with an simple cascades app.

And yes I hope it is some kind of fake!

I can confirm this is not a fake as it has happened to me too, on my z10 running 10.2.1.537.

It only happened once, and I am unsure how to trigger it, but I don't believe the security of the phone was compromised as it was already unlocked when this showed.

There are many ways to put "Picture Password"
Either you play with folders/pictures names or you use a cascade app.

Is that even possible? I didn't know picture password was an app... it doesn't show up in the device monitor

No, for example you create a folder named "picture password" and you put your screenshot in.

IMHO the only way is the app title or a folder, but you can't put Screenshots in app folders?

Not sure how the password/security layer is implemented, has to some kind of "raised" process. Stuff like the "file transfer" window do not have an active frame nor show up as an app in dev mngr. (bad comparison, I know) might all be tightened into the OS.

Let's hope the "bug" gets adressed or is just some kind of anomaly once you passed the password layer, the device lags before closing the pic password stuff

I just had the same problem. My phone was locked, I try to unlock it I get to enter my Numerical password once I did it I found picture password minimized. Any one else had the same problem?
I took a screenshots right away, opened it swapped up i minimized into an active frame.
i closed it, locked my phone and it started working again. Hope Blackberry will fix this issue ASAP.
the only good thing is the phone stays protected, even if the picture password crashes the normal password is then required.

It's not fake. That happened to me once too on an earlier leak when I first started using the picture password. I stopped because it was too laggy and then this happened.

It seems totally fine in the latest OS so now I use it.

Wow in that case I say sorry to all of you for doubting. I found this glitch so unbelievable to believe since BlackBerry has a good reputation on security and privacy. And this is something he couldn't have missed!
BlackBerry has to update and fix first. High priority matters.
Imagine that someone steals your phone and patiently tries and tries again until he succeeds to exploit this glitch.
I hope that it has been reported to BlackBerry.
