Updated to 10.2 from sachesi today. Used the Rodgers 100-3 build on my Verizon z10. Works awesome and battery life is awesome.
Anyways,
I saw under network connections ims status. It says connected.
What is this?

IP Multimedia Subsystems. It's an architecture framework used for delivering IP/voIP/Multimedia data/information to mobile users.
Thank you for the reply. Why is it on 10.2? What new services or apps would use this?

No worries. I don't know. I never thought to check. I'm on Rogers as well.
It allows seamless communication over different networks, but also ensures synchronization across platforms and apps. At work, we have an skype-like communication application that can be used on a computer and also has a corresponding app on our work devices. We can set an out of office alert and our calls via PC are routed to our handsets. That's what IMS does. it allows the handoff of data/info (usually in the form of a call/communication/video/etc.. to be sent/received over a variety of devices automatically.
EDIT: I know Rogers was testing IMS integration with their network in 2005-2006.
Thanks for the info. Sounds like a useful technology. Glad to see it in bb10. Since I'm on Verizon in the us I am guessing it won't be in the official Verizon build. Perhaps just rogers specific. Wonder if other 10.2 versions have it too?
Nonetheless, it doesn't seem to effect anything so I guess it will just stay there under connections until I get the official verizon update.

Yeah, I'm in India on Vodafone. I upgraded via sachesi for voda, UK. IMS is there too
It's up to your MNO to allow this feature
I have it on the latest telus update. Looks like it's just something enterprise customers will use?

This is what VoLTE will use (VoLTE) once carriers start rolling out enough LTE coverage and VoLTE capable handsets. This is why many carriers got rid of unlimited data; once they roll this out they'll only sell you buckets of data.

What is "MNO"?
Thanks,
Shane.
Missing NO
I'd guess Mobile Network Operator
