In the voice of Sir Attenborough: "And here we have the lesser spotted 10.2.1.xxx OS out in the wild. As it slowly makes its way around various devices, shocking folks with its new features and random crashes, it's potential is amazing next to its more developed kin, the 10.2.0 series."

10.2.1.200??? Ahh yes I remember that build fondly. Anyway to answer the question:

We get the leaks out to you all as we get them. We have only been fortunate enough to get one 10.2.1.xxx build so far. Once we get another you will also get it.

Keep in mind though that even though the numbers of 10.2.1.xxx is higher than 10.2.0.1767 they are actually an older build. So even if we get 10.2.1.575 it too will more than likely be a little older than the current 10.2.0.xxxx leak that is out there.

By now I would hope that 10.2.0.17xx had been merged in to the 10.2.1.x branch and that only the patches for bug squashing is being applied to both branches. 10.2.1.x should now be feature additions and alpha testing.

10.2.1 branched off around the time of 10.2.0.15xx. It is in parallel development. Fixes are implemented, but ultimately it is to start a new minor release update branch

A few people have said "well all that was different in 10.2.1.200 was face focus"

That wasn't responsible for the instability in that OS. Clearly there were changes to the core OS that weren't particularly stable in everyday use.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there.

10.2.1 has clearly seen a lot of further development, future leaks will tell what else is changed in it, but I don't think it's a given that it will eventually become anything. I expect there are other branches, or multiple sub-branches off 10.2.1. Some will be abandoned, but certain features from those branches could very well be transplanted to branches selected for either development.

Yes it is quite likely that there are multiple branched for testing a variety of new features, tweaks etc... and many of the features, tweaks may be incorporated into the parent OS. Branches are typically used as a test environment so the programmer can proof changes. There may be multiple branches testing the same "new feature" so it is easier to debug and confirm what is working and not working on the base OS being used. If a 10.2.1.XXXX is leaked like before it may be perfectly stable, but likely will contain some bugs.

Overall system instability - lags, stutters, etc. Strange problems with the phone app not calling contacts from the contact list. My Android player was VERY bad, slow and battery hungry, but in fairness I might (can't remember) have sideloaded a different runtime over it. Or maybe not, I can't remember if that was before or after the problems appeared.

There are lots of changes, both in the core OS and the apps. Things don't get stable until we reach 1000, so I'd say we're still a month away from a good 10.2.1 leak. Anything before that is just for fun and to mess up your backups .

Changes from current are rarely backported, but when they fix bugs in the previous release, they do merge them forward and that's when you run into incompatibilities at times, along with those coming from the fact that teams responsible for different parts of the OS may not deliver the same feature at the same time. You may have the OpenVPN driver, but not the UI or you have an interface which doesn't connect to anything in the system.

Maybe to test it for a future release on the parent.
