What doesn't BB10 give you today and how do you workaround those issues?
- Generally that's true, but the details of that analysis vary tremendously from user to user and over time.
For example, 6 months ago, the BB10 Browser experience was adequate for me to single carry my Z10 everywhere. Now, I can sometimes get by with single carrying my Passport, but usually prefer to keep the KEYone in the bag for Web browsing.
It may get boring for people who are already happier, or at least satisfied, in iOS/Android to constantly read about what users still tied to BB10 are thinking about, but it's still a vital part of these forums that doesn't have a "home" in the current forum structure. If CB wants to open a BB10 / Android / iOS comparison forum, we could move all the discussions there, but for now, they are likely to pop up all over the place!

I get that BB10 users don't like feeling like second class citizens here. And I get that some wish that there was a place for BB10 owners only.... Same thing happened back in 2013 when BB10 was the all the rage, BBOS was the past.
Maybe if you got the mods to pull the BB10 threads from TRENDING and UNANSWERED, they wouldn't be seen or commented on by those that frequent the current threads?05-15-18 02:10 PMLike 0 -

- From my point of view, the Z30 was the best phone I have owned. But, like others, the stock browser became terrible, but I used Qbrowser. I had to move to KeyOne as the speaker became weak and I could not hear conversation. Since I am not into social media, those apps don't matter, but I was using Face10 and Blaq. Other favorites were Authomator and Noted, neither available in Android. But the Hub is the best in OS10 and my needs are heavy into email and text. Navigation is easier in OS10 than Android, which I find frustrating. But we move on and adjust.glwerry likes this.05-15-18 09:56 PMLike 1

I got my own idea about screen lock and they sent me an email telling me that I had better change it. What in the world is that?

The purpose of the thread was to list issues with BlackBerry 10 and the workaround you use on BlackBerry 10 to address these issues. It's turned into a totally different discussion.

OP if you have an issue... be specific as to what you need help with.
Generally, at this point there aren't many here using BB10, or willing to answer such a broad question.
But....
Alternate Browsers - today the better options are Android Bases as the native ones have many of the same issues.
Cobalt's Google Play Store, Whitelisting, Patching... searching for older versions of apps and then known what just won't work.
Autoloader... to get the latest update that might not be available on your device. Too BB10 runs better with fresh clear update every 4 - 6 months.
SEARCH.... is a new users best friend.
If your going to ask a question, be very specific and stay with one topic. Don't ask 10 questions in one post.05-16-18 09:19 AMLike 0 -

Z10 was the first phone I bought a case for... stopped using it after a few months (battery changes were a hassle). But it was a very tough phone.05-16-18 09:28 AMLike 0 - I'm actually going back to my Passport from the KeyOne at the moment. My findings:
Blaq still works fine for Twitter, and is still my favourite Twitter client, but it hasn't been updated in a while, and it's been pulled from BlackBerry World, so I don't expect any more updates.
Nemory was helping me get logged into Twittly yesterday (still not sure if it's an issue with the app, or on my end), and I'm still using Inst10 and Ober and they both work fine. I feel like at the very least these apps will still be supported for a little while.
Reddit in Motion does everything I need, though it's still just a basic Reddit client. It's still on BB World too, so that's nice.
As far as Android apps go:
I'm using the Spotify available on the Amazon app store and it works fine, almost as well as it does on my KeyOne (though Spotify has always been really slow on any device I've used, so it's just "not worse" than on Android, not necessarily as good as a native app).
Facebook has released their "Lite" apps for both Facebook and Messenger, which seem to have been designed with older versions of Android in mind, and they actually work great. Would I prefer a more integrated Hub notification? Yes. Do I actually get notifications at all? Also yes. They work for me about as well as they were working on my KeyOne (where I was mysteriously not getting Facebook notifications, though Messenger worked fine).
Waze works surprisingly well. Like, I really wasn't expecting it to work as well as it does.
Google and Blizzard Authenticators work fine. They're not very exciting apps, but they get the job done.
The dev of DogeTracker is updating the app to support Kit Kat some time this week. I told him he didn't need to bother, but he said it was no big deal. In the meantime I'm using "Altcoin Prices" app to keep track of how much my current Doge holdings are worth, and it works fine.
I've also grabbed ES Task Manager to kill any apps that don't want to close properly, since that still tends to happen with Android apps.
Basically, with those apps and the Hub, it's doing everything I need a phone to do, and I'm not feeling as stressed as I get running Android. Probably tidy up my KeyOne and sell it some time later this week.05-16-18 10:20 AMLike 0 - In my opinion, BB10 users really stretch in justifying their continued operation. I think that the reality is that they like to swim against the current. They like the challenge of keeping their old phones working as long as they can even if it means using more than one phone.
Nothing wrong with that. It is a fun hobby.Last edited by Bbnivende; 05-16-18 at 11:08 AM.
05-16-18 10:47 AMLike 0 - If it wasn't for the banking apps I might still be on mine.
I wish everyday that I could go back to my Passport.05-16-18 10:57 AMLike 0 -

- Yeah I know lots of people have problems but Link works fine with my Passport and Z10 both on 10.3.3. I've never had any problems on any BB10 OS as far as Link is concerned. I always thought that was more of a Windows 10 problem with BB drivers.05-16-18 12:11 PMLike 0

Posted via CB1005-16-18 12:27 PMLike 0 - Here's my response to the OP:
I don't try to make my BB10 phones do anything they don't do really well. I use them for audio playback from lossless and MP3 files, OneDrive sync, the glorious Hub for email, SMS and BBM, calendar (synced with Outlook.com, MS Exchange and Google), Contacts (synced with Outlook.com, MS Exchange and Google), Tasks (synced with oitlook.com and MS exchange), and notes (synced with MS Exchange).
I use stock Maps, Music and Video apps. I use Kindle for BB10, and a handful of other apps from the BlackBerry World app store. I do NOT load any APKs or Amazon store apps because I don't find them generally reliable. I use the stock BlackBerry browser, and I save Web sites as shortcuts in folders.
When I'm carrying my BB10 as my primary phone, my workaround for anything I want to do that Bb10 doesn't support well is to use a PC (preferred) or my BlackBerry KEYone Android that I double carry. I end up using it 3-4 times a week when it's my secondary phone.
Increasingly, I have been trying to carry my KEYone As my primary phone, but I find it much less valuable than my BB10 phones, so that when I try to use it as primary, I find myself avoiding using Mobile altogether. That's not actually a bad thing, so I may do it more often.

I installed it and used it to back up my (up to date, as far as updates go) Passport yesterday. It didn't like the USB cable I was using at first, but when I switched it out for another one it worked fine. Par for the course for any phone I've had connected to my computer.05-16-18 01:33 PMLike 0
- I've also had non problems with Link for BB10 on Windows 10 Pro. I have found that I have to "Run as Administratot" for certain functions.
Truthfully though, I don't think I would have any to use it in the future, as I prefer to perform a comprehensive security wipe and reinstall the OS at this point, which I can do from an autoloader.
