I am in Australia, where BlackBerry is not a very popular choice at all. I know of nobody who uses one. What uses can BBM have for me in this case?
Any BBM veterans who can help please?

Oh, and it doesn't require you personal info or registration ;-) You can easily interact with it just accessing it through BBM! At least if you don't decide to open a new Channel on your own!

You can also use the shared list and calendar functions. For example, we use it as a grocery and Christmas shopping list with my family. Can assign tasks to people, post pictures to groups etc.

Listening in on this thread also as I have found BBM to be not very efficient or useful for me.

99% of the people I call or msg don't have BBM so I don't see or get BBMs advantage either.

I use BBM Groups as a mini Facebook with my parents who aren't on Facebook but want to see routine pictures of their grand baby.

I use BBM with my wife because I hate SMS messaging and how unpredictable/uninformative it is. We also use it to send each other HD pictures. I wish they gave the ability for iOS users to send video.

I subscribe to a couple of channels to look at when I am bored. :-)

I am finding more features like message retraction really make this service stand out, but the trick is getting people to try it for more than 5 minutes.

Create a BBM Group, and have the people you want to share that info with join the group.

I don't know anyone on it, and only have two contacts on WhatsApp. Don't use either that much.
Trying to get the wife onto BBM to use as an alt to Skype for face to face when away. Not sure if it will work tho as she is on samsung.

As my friends are gradually converting to BlackBerry, we are having fun with BBM Video Calls and screen share feature.

Plus BBM Channels and groups of course

None of my friends use it, so I don't / cannot. It still munches on my battery, though.

Using it on daily basis. Have around 40 contacts in my list. Use it for:

Chats Sending pictures video and voice calls and glympse for location updates.

The is no alternative to the great BBM

It's a great messenger, but not popular. I have 0 contacts there. The icon goes to my unused apps folder. Same with PIN Messages.
