I have an opportunity to upgrade from a Z10 to a Z30. Should I do it?
I'm concerned about the lower dpi on the screen - does it really affect image sharpness? Has anyone had the opportunity to compare a Z10 to Z30 screen?

I upgraded almost two weeks ago but you really need to figure out what is suitable for you. Have you picked up the Z30? Are you good with the size? You may wish to hold off until the end if the month where we should have a better idea of what devices are coming.

    I own both.

The decreased dpi is not noticeable to me but apparently it is to others.

The increased battery life and sound are real selling points.... oh the sound.

Any chance you can get some hands on time before you decide?

I did 2 days ago and I'm really glad I did.
I hesitated as my Z10 was working just fine, but I was reading a LOT of good reviews on the Z30 here and other places as well.
Don't listen to the naysayers who don't own one that say the screen is too low of a resolution..ppi.. blah blah blah.
I have my brightness at about 65% or so. White balance in the middle and it's great. Colors are Very vibrant on this screen, and I love the black theme throughout the OS. Battery life is getting better and better each day (updated when I bought it Tuesday night). Unplugged it at 6:30 am Thursday morning and I'm now at 23% at 12:20 am...pretty good if you ask me for moderate to heavy use. Get one.. you'll see!

Speaker, screen size, battery, cpu/gpu power is a selling point for me.
Some people argue that the Z30 is simply a z10 on steroids, it's not. It has greater gpu power and a slight boost on the cpu. Screen is almost an inch bigger, speakers are X4 louder and sound clearer than the Z10

Yep, that's what I forgot. I have my notification volume set fairly low because the sound of this is amazing. I accidentally opened a song in file manager and couldn't believe how it sounded.

unless you're smallish with very small hands and a 5" device will be too large for you to handle...the only thing you'll miss from the Z10 when you upgrade is the monopoly app that is not enabled on the Z30

Made the switch from Z10 to Z30 in October and haven't looked back since. For me the lower dpi isn't noticeable, and instead you benefit from much superior battery life (seriously, I can go through 2 days without recharging - impossible on the Z10), improved sound, snappier processor and higher quality build construction. The extra screen size is also a bonus for document manipulation, media, Internet and games

As others have mentioned, the extra size and weight may be a little problematic for some with smaller hands, and some one-handed actions will be harder to pull off if you need to reach the far side of the screen. But if you're a two-thumb typist like me the larger keyboard allows you to type even faster.

...but yeah! Where's the monopoly app? Loved that, but unfortunately not on Z30 at this time.

Of course, the Z30 > Z10 for all but a very few respondents.

no one point out that BB10 looks beautiful on Z30. why ? because bit extra gap between icons allow your wallpaper to pop-out.
that's first thing I notice when I switch to Z30. that's the reason Z30 screen looks beautiful even with low PPI.

    So here's my update:

I took the chance and went for the Z30 on Friday... and I have to say... NO REGRETS!
The Z10 was great ... but man, a bigger display and the EXTRA BATTERY life makes the difference.

I am noticing a difference in display quality, both good and meh... the good is that it's bright (even on the lowest brightness level, it is suffice), and it's very vivid. The drawback is that I can see the sharpness and detail in the text (slightly lacking), but do-able. By that I mean I can see almost a slight blur between text and background, especially in the Hub - I can be picky this way. But if you don't think about it - it's definitely not something that would prevent me from recommending this device.

Battery life is amazing. There's no way the Z10 could have lasted as long as the Z30 does!

The Sound... OMG... the sound is amazing. I love how they've made the ear speaker also a loud-speaker to give that True sound.

The bigger display also makes typing much easier.

The weight - a bit more and it's noticeable compared to the Z10 - but not too worried as I quickly became accustomed to it.

I also picked up a BlackBerry Leather Flip Case (NFC Friendly) which is great. I love how it replaces the back cover and keeps a nice thin profile.

Thank you for all of your feedback. Very much appreciated.

    I have both.
My 10 sits in the drawer just in case my 30 poops the bed.
I don't see that happening, but I have all my contacts, accounts, apps, etc sitting on my 10 just in case I ever have problems with the 30.
The 30 is an AMAZING phone.
    You wont regret it.
    Promise.

Don't forget, not everyone wants a bigger device. Choices maybe, but you can't honestly say the future is bigger devices.

Apple is simply playing catch up and even with their next release there are going to be choices. One size doesn't fit all IMHO

Agreed, I had to use a Z10 for a week while my Z30 was in for some work, you know oil change, new plugs, rotate tires....

And I have to say was very glad when I got the 30 back the keyboard if possible is even better on the 30, and the 10 is world class!!

And I live the AMOLED screen very vibrant and beautiful

    Yeah I live this phone!!

The Z10 has better volume rocker buttons and a slightly crisper screen. But that's about it. I upgraded to the Z30 and have zero regrets.
