So I just experienced the weirdest thing this evening. I had a notification and a dialog box that popped up on my Z10 that said "SMS 1348" with the option to cancel or save. The dialog box was very plain just gray with the two option buttons. This is something I have never seen before and so I naturally hit cancel. I tried a couple different Google Searches to no effect and now I am wishing I had grabbed a screen shot before canceling this dialog. I just updated my STL100-4 to 10.3.2.2204 today so I don't know if it something to do with the new OS.

Has anyone ever seen a dialog box pop-up like this? Sorry for the lack of a screen shot. If it happens again I will grab one and update this thread.

Only link I've found that kind of said what it is.

    More from Wikipedia:

    Flash SMS

A Flash SMS is a type of SMS that appears directly on the main screen without user interaction and is not automatically stored in the inbox.[72] It can be useful in emergencies, such as a fire alarm or cases of confidentiality, as in delivering one-time passwords.[73]

Must be your OS. No one else has 10.3.2.2402.

Interesting. I had never heard of these but that isn't a surprise.

    Thank you.

The really funny thing is that I checked I had the correct OS version written down before I posted and I swear that it was 2402 but I guess that is what happens when you are sleep deprived due to having a 7 week old.

I wish I was special enough to have OS other people had not gotten their hands on yet, in fact I doubt 2402 is even a real version number.

Well dna47 is right on with this being a Flash SMS. I found the following thread somebody posted a few years ago that actually grabbed a screen shot, unlike me.

Also from doing some reading, now that I know what I was looking for, it looks like if I had hit save it would have just saved the SMS to the Hub. I just was concerned to hit save. If I get another I will save it to see who it came from.

Depending on your carrier, you can block categories of sms. You would probably want to allow 3 digit SMS since that would include your carrier. You can block the sms services, which I think are 4 and 5 digit. You can also block 10 digit SMS.

To my knowledge Verizon only lets you block certain numbers not groups based on length but I haven't looked into all of the options. Also I am not sure who this flash SMS came from since I hit discard and not save.

TMobile can block SMS based on number of digits. It may not be on the website, but you can call customer service and they will do the specific blocking.

Interesting, if it happens again and I can figure out where it is coming from I will follow your suggestion of calling.
