In the workplace BlackBerry have the Secure Workspace software with BES10 that runs on iPads and Android tablets. To use it the company has to pay an annual per device CAL fee.

Incorrect. I have a BES10 which was set-up as a trial along with a lifetime BES10 CAL for a flat-fee of USD99.00. I shutdown the BES10 server last summer until they sorted out a myriad of issues particularly with respect to leaked data and applications between the Personal and Secure Workspace partitions.

Nope you bought an annual CAL, see attached screen shot. There is no choice other than annual when purchasing new CALs whether they are EMM Secure Work Space or EMM Corporate. Annual BES10 CALs are BlackBerry's enterprise life blood now that for most deployments there won't be a service charge to collect from the carriers, except if you go EMM Regulated but that's another roller coaster ride!

The only ways to end up with perpetual CALs in BES10 (which will end up as EMM Corporate for BlackBerry CALs that are only usable with BB10 and PlayBook devices) are to either already have perpetual BES5 CALs and trade them up before the end of this month, already have perpetual BES5 CALS and have an Advanced Support package which will allow you to trade them up after the end of this month, or buy BES5 CALs now and do the same.

On the bright side annual EMM Corporate CALs for BB10, iOS and Android (not Secure Workspace) are now $19 per device per year, good value I feel.

    We really need a BlackBerry 10 Tablet.-img_00000232.png

They have to. All manufacturers have 'm both, phones AND tablets. For a reason. A businessmodel. It's what we want. I want a BlackBerry phone and I want a BlackBerry tablet. A decent one.
