Last week I received a spam text message. I made the mistake of opening it to read it and accidentally touched the link in the text message. Ever since the phone has been a mess.

It's like the Q5 has a life of its own. For example, it takes screen shots, makes outgoing phone calls to people in my contacts list, it often freezes up, it sends Pings and BBM stickers like crazy, and often the menu choices appears from the right side.

    I've tried to :
Reboot using the up/down volume keys
Wipe the device under the Security setting
Do a Factory reset using Link

None of these have solved the problem.

I took out the SIM card and the SD card and did the above fixes but the problem still remains.

I put the SIM in another BlackBerry device and it works fine.

Has anyone seen this happen before? Any other suggestions?

    It's a Q5 100-2 which I'm using here in Canada.

    Thanks for your help.

You didn't mention weather or not you also restored any of your backup's.
Trash everything... contacts included. You're going to have to reenter then "Manually."

DO NOT USE ANY OF "ANYTHING" THAT YOU PREVIOUSLY DOWNLOADED.

And what have we learned from this? Don't open emails that you don't recognize.

The up side to this is that you'll have a nice fresh running device.

Lessons learned are like bridges burned.
You only have to cross then once.

As reliable as the security is.... it's about the most important program you can have .
If your serious, really serious about your mobile device you'll spend the money on the best security protection you can find.
I suggest Norton Security with Backup. It allows you to use it on up to nine computers and has a mobile app.
or you can find the mobile app in one of the app stores.

You bought a Blackberry. so I assume you know quality. Don't bother with any free virus/security programs. You get what you pay for or don't pay for.

    No back up was restored.

Is there more I can do than the Factory reset using Link, because that hasn't worked.

Why use Link? Why don't you just do a security wipe by going into the phone setting and doing it that way? Perhaps that would be better. I know sometimes people say things shouldn't work but perhaps that just might.
