I was force upgraded on big red! I tried to downgrade back to 10.3.0.1418 but after a reboot the download started again. Ive been on the forums all morning trying to resolve this. Does anyone know a work around to get the previous os version installed and the forced update turned off!? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's not possible. This update is required to meet some anti-theft legislation.

Yep, once 10.3.2 is on the phone, there is no way to go back to anything older.

    Period.

Like others have said, it's just not possible. There is a blocklist for previous OSS.

For the future I would go into settings / software updates / options and turn off auto update so you can plan your update to meet your schedule.

    T-Mobile  вιaсĸвεггч Passport Autoloaded 10.3.1.2582 Sachesi up to 10.3.1.2744 to 2.680 to 2.798 to 2.2204 to 2339

This really sucks! Not a fan of 10.3.2 at all and the new restrictions. And my auto updates were turned off.

What "restrictions" are you talking about?

More options were added over 10.3.0. In fact, the basic "look" is the same as 10.3.0. 10.3.1 added more notification options including custom LED colors. 10.3.2 only solidified the basic functions, added a few options back that 10.3.0 took away (specifically, the calendar UI).

If you got a "mandatory" update, then you must be in the U.S., because AT&T and Verizon are the only carriers to did the mandatory push (not sure if T-Mobile mandated it, but 10.3.2 was pushed by them to their customers too).

A California law that went into effect at the beginning of the month required carriers to provide a "kill switch", and 10.3.2 does just that (part of the reason you can't load an older OS). So the carriers were mandated by that law, and one other state that also has that law (I forget which - Maryland, I think). But instead of trying to figure out who is in what state at any given moment, they pushed it to everyone. Because other states are contemplating passing similar legislation. Some already have but just not in effect yet.

Yeah as far as the ui, I dont mind the look of everything, which is why I was trying to load 10.3.0 since its the last version that allowed for the escreen editing of the hotspot. Some of the functions within the ui I'm not a fan of but its just something I would have to get used to. Yes i'm in the US, non of the states listed but nonetheless I got screwed like everyone else. I guess only option would be to go back to an iOS device since the jailbreaking ability still seems to be prevalent with them.

It's not like you don't have control. This was a mandatory update that U.S. Carriers had to follow thru with other than that you still have control

That makes no sense. If we had control we would be able to not apply the software update. Since it was forced install we did not have control.

Yeah, that won't work. I have my Z10 set this way and the update downloaded automatically. I didn't even know it was happening, I was at work and went to check my phone for messages and got a screen telling me that a new OS update had been downloaded and installed and that my phone would automatically reset itself in 48 hours.

Ulferini, the good old US of A ran by Obama, I won't go on a political rant though.

It's bull JPD, I was hoping to avoid it as well or only upgrade to a point.

Rhoric, I own my phone outright, as I do with all my phones. Nothing should be mandatory in my book. Look at jail broken iPhones, had one and loved the freedom. We just need a guru to do the same thing for the BlackBerry community.

Blame the states that are mandating this. Others will to. It's meant to make your phone less desirable as a target. Most phone manufacturers and the carriers were hesitant to do something on their own, so several states took it into their own hands. California, was among the first because cell phone theft is rampant there.

Really, guys, that's all there is to it. Apple does it too, and started before anyone else. All other phones have to comply as well.

I'm not mad about the update itself, I wanted 10.3.2 anyway. I'm mad at the way they pushed it. Had I been on the road and not connected to WiFi would that download come off of my data? I don't have unlimited date and I would have been really mad if I would have had to waste data that I pay for to download something that could have waited a couple of hours until I was connected to WiFi. That is why I have my phone set to not update automatically.

Yes, this is what concerns me. I'm in the UK and we haven't had the update yet but I'm on a 1gb plan and if I'm out of wifi range and my carrier decides to push the mandatory update, I'm screwed.

I don't know how other carriers handle this, but AT&T specifically states that carrier pushed updates don't go against your data allotment.

But then, most current OS updates are so big that many carriers will not let the update happen over mobile data and will wait until you have a Wi-Fi connection.

Verizon states in their policy that carrier forced updates won't count towards your data allotment, so if it does just call for a credit.

Haha, but seriously: why are US carriers pushing forced updates? That would never happen here in Germany.

Did the NSA at least provide a changelog?

If a security update was mandatory, why didn't they just push that, and leave the other stuff, like the calendar and hub, alone?
