Previously we were able to use a BlackBerry bridged to the Playbook and use the BlackBerry as a mouse or keyboard. Some people discovered you could also get it to work on a PC through bluetooth.

So my question is, whether it's possible to connect to a PC and use my Z10 as a remote control (mouse), or a keyboard?

I know there are some apps that do it through WiFi, but I don't always have WiFi nor are these WiFi access points my own. I want to do it through Bluetooth.
I've tried connecting my Z10 to my PC via bluetooth, and it seems to have the following:

A2DP (which lets me play music from my Z10 on my PC.)
    Audio/Video Remote control
    Audio Source
    Handsfree AUdio GAteway
    Headset Audio Gateway
    Object Push (file transfer)

But no HID device service support.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I'm a dev and I also searched about a solution to do a "native" bluetooth device with my Blackberry/Android device. But it's pretty impossible...
When you take a look at the bluetooth specifications, each device must provide it's capabilities. You have phone, A2DP, HID,...
Of course, our devices only provides some of them but I've never seen HID except for mouses and keyboards...

So Yes, it can be possible to do that with a little change in the bluetooth driver of the phone but QNX is not open-sources and without the sources it's pretty impossible except if it comes from Blackberry.

Solutions using the Wifi are based on hacks wich simulate a device programmaticaly, and I think it's currently the only solution we have...

    I hope it helped you.

Here's a noob question. Would there ever be a jailbreak for the z10? Would the jailbreak give developers the ability write an app as suggested by the op?

Go to BlackBerry World and type in 'Remote' the first app should be AIO Remote. I use this and it's a real good app. I use it via bluetooth like you want as I'm not always around wifi. You do however have to 'unlock' the bluetooth features and from what I remember when I purchased it, it costs 2 but for the functionality and how it works I really think it's worth it

AIO remote supports WIFI/Bluetooth for free on windows/linux/mac with Tons of features

Latest version 3.4.5 targets creative people only:

    - Are you ready to control your imagination
    - Create custom remotes with any graphic design ever you imagine
    - Change background color of custom remote or set any image as background
    - New type of buttons (Image Button). Create image using image editor and save it on device. Use image as a button
    - Image button can be any shape not just rectangle. Png file can have transparent background
    - You can import image from device file system or from camera directly
    - Better buttons alignment by displaying position/size info while repositioning/resizing

i will try to upload photos / videos about how to use advanced custom remote designer

AIO remote needs an application server on your PC, it is an ok solution if you know in advance the computer you want to control. Unfortunately it seems not possible to have the phone just emulate a bluetooth mouse or keyboard.

BTW In The past I've searched the same type of application also for my bb9900 and for Android without success.

You will not find that app because it needs l2cap protocol to be supported on BlackBerry 10 but unfortunately it is not supported so I developed my own server for that reason.

Also, there is tons of features that need server app. like remote file manager and other features that will be available in future versions.

Out of curiosity: some people mentioned here that the bluetooth capabilities in BB10 are limited, and that a workaround with a server is required; then how does blue touchpad work without using that?

Never had a problem with Bluetooth on BB10. Blue touch app just works.

I was referring to what some users wrote in this same thread: they said it was not possible to achieve that functionality without a server in the computer.

Maybe it didn't work in an early version of BlackBerry 10 or something?

    If definitely works now.
