So I have a Q10 and a Z30. I have decided to keep using BB10 into feature phone obsolesence.

Should I keep using the Q10 and go to the Z30 when it dies or vice versa?

    - the feature phone future will be am app-less talk, email, sms future and the Q10s smaller screen may be better for that.

    - with a removable battery perhaps the Q10 will store better on the shelf for a year or two.

    Thoughts?

The Q10 might be sufficient for all your needs. It's also smaller thus more "pocketable".

    Z30

Better processor and graphic coprocessor... and more apps: even the Android ones will work better due to display ratio.

Also: the vkb is damn good

    To me it's a no-brainer

Have you ever read the OP when he said it will be an "app-less talk, email, sms" device?

They are both great phones...I am using the Q10 now and have the Z30 on the shelf. I am going to end up using both eventually.

I am mostly wondering if I should switch and use the Z30 now with its bigger screen with functioning apps being more plentiful...and with the removable battery if the Q10 will store better on the shelf than the Z30.

At the end of the day, you're the only one who can decide which one to choose. However, if you ask me, I'd prefer to use the Q10 for your stated needs. I had the Z30 for a year, and it is large and heavy.

Vote Q10 which is a great phone at this time, of course, exception Passport. If I am asked to decide, 'I prefer Q10 to Z30', I will answer.

Will the removable battery on the q10 make it more suitable to put on the shelf as a backup phone than the Z30?

    This is the real question.

I would not call those phones " feature phones". They are still very capable phones.

As far as apps go, you would be surprised to find some nice apps that are only available on BlackBerry 10.

They are a great buy still, especially at their current price now.

No, they aren't features phones...I am just stocking up right now so I ensure I have a adequate stock of BB10 devices well into a future when they will have degraded app capabilities and function as feature phones.

I was deciding which phone (the Z10 or Q10 I should park) - already own both.

Decided to park the Q10 as the larger screen of the Z30 is more app friendly and the removable battery of the Q10 probably makes it a better candidate to sit on the shelf.

Use the z30, both are good devices, the q will get you more attention when you pull it out in 2 years time.

I just faced a similar issue, wanting to prepare ahead of time for the BB10 apocalypse. I just gave my Z30 a much needed rest in favor of a brand new Q10. Here's why. Since the Z30 after two years use has less lifetime battery life less, I put it in the drawer to reactivate 2-3 years from now. The Zed is now my BB10 backup. The Q10 suits me better now because I have come to love my Classic's PKB. The replaceable battery is the key here. As long as I can take care of my white Q10, all should be good with it to complement my Classic and iPhone 6 Plus for the next few years. And finally, based upon the presence of the iPhone, the Z30 became odd man out.

Just make sure to remove the battery from the device if you're going to make it sit on the shelf for a long time, but know that the battery still degrades whether you use it or not.
