Since RIM seems to like sending updates and makes them larger than the phone can handle, why don't they allow the user to download to a micro sd card and update from there? It makes no sense having to update by plugging into a pc and then having to reload a backup. My company requires me to have a BB, but I couldn't see myself buying one for personal use. Too many issues.

Larger than the phone can handle? If you don't have enough free space on the device, just use Link to perform the update - you don't need to backup/restore as it's non-destructive.

If you have a Q5 or Z3 with 8GB of ram, it can be a bit trickier, I agree.

That's where the problem came. Link said no updates available, and RIM has been notifying me non-stop to update. But I just deleted everything on the phone. I have enough space now but I don't know if it will deny it, once the download is complete.

If you sign into Link with your BlackBerry ID, it should always pick up the same OTA update you see on your device. Use the latest version of Link by installing the Blend package from www.blackberry.com/blend.
