Annoyed by the possibility that 10.3.1 isn't coming till February, I'm wondering about installing a leak onto my Z10.
The reason I'm posting here is this:
On my phone I have a few app/games that I don't want to lose my stored data on.
I have some apps that I have installed from snap that I don't want to lose.
Am I right in thinking an autoloader would erase all the apps?
I have seen some information about a Blitz method, but will this work coming from 10.2.1? And how is this done?
    My phone is a Z10 STL100-2 running 10.2.1.3062
    Thanks!

Yes, if you run an autoloader you will erase all the data on the phone.

Blitz will, if it works, retain everything. However while it usually works fine it is not a risk-free process and there is a chance it will fail, particularly if you interrupt it while in process. If that happens then you're stuck running an autoloader to recover, which means you need to make a backup first -- and be aware that when it comes to Android apps, they do not typically restore data on 10.2 (they typically DO on 10.3.x)

Therefore there is a risk here of losing your Android (in particular) app data that is pretty tough to avoid -- it's not a particularly high risk, but it exists.

Blitz ought to work as it mimics the same process as an OTA update pushed by a carrier.

Lets be objective, 90% of all owners of older OS10 devices will update from 10.2 to 10.3 via OTA when it is released officially, it is the way that BB intend the upgrade to be performed.

There will always be bad installs, but the Blitz process has no greater chance of this occurring than the pushed OTA when it arrives.

You pay your money and you take your choice.

I can confirm to you that I have successfully upgraded from 10.2.1.3442 on 2 different z10s (both STL 100-3 models) to 10.3.1.1154 using the Blitz method. I did NOT remove my Sim or SD cards, nor did I put either in Airplane Mode before the Blitz update. I just used the latest version of Sachesi (very important) and plugged the z10 into my pc then dragged and dropped the zipped Blitz file. It took about 50 minutes to complete and there were times when I thought it was stuck or not responding but with patience EVERYTHING worked beautifully. This is in NO WAY meant to entice you to try it, because I have heard from others that have screwed it up and had to either go back to what they had or to re-do their phone with an autoloader. I am just telling you my experience. I have NO games on my device, so I cannot comment on the data lost/retained for that. I have 10-12 android apps from Snap that were successfully transferred and no problems there. I hope this helps with your decision and remember, as always, do a complete backup with Link before you try anything.

I want to ask you a question, if i did back-up my phone, and restored in another os, do the os that i recovered my old back-up in, goes and the old os comes or it just recovers my media and files on the back up to the new os ? Also do we have an option to back up only media and files in the BlackBerry Link?

Just one thing - when BlackBerry finally do release 10.3.1 my phone will be able to update to that release? Am I correct in thinking that?

If the released version is newer than the leak, yes

When you backup in link, choose custom and make sure you include application executables. That should cover you completely in the even 10.3.1 doesnt work out for and you need to revert back.

    Amen to this
Create a custom backup in link
    Backup everything

Download device switch app from BlackBerry world or deviceswitch.com and backup everything to SD

When restoring, use link to restore app data. Manually deselect BlackBerry runtime & system applications

Use deciveswitch to restore everything else

For anyone looking at this, here's what happened. I updated my Z10 to 10.3.1.1154 and it's working fine. No lose of any data.
A few bugs: the video app won't work, but you can play videos in the file manager. The password app won't work either, but I dont use it. Finally during the update I had the browser locked by parental controls. Now when I try and enable it, it still doesn't appear. Otherwise everything is great!!
