No joy for me on unlocked original passport in UK.

I really can't see why BBRY can't update the runtime to v5, inline with the 'future of BBRY' the Privy, especialy with their much touted expertise with the android platform </sarcasm>

Why.... cost. Upgrading the Runtime would be a MAJOR endeavor.

It would be great, but BlackBerry has made it clear to developers that the runtime is not moving on to a higher level of Android anytime soon (which means never).

I think you have to assume BB10 has been abandoned; if BlackBerry was actually interested in making sure this was available they could push it as an OS update.

They most likely assumed that this would be a quicker way of doing it. In order to push updates, BlackBerry needs to gain carrier approval of the said update. It's common knowledge around here about how carriers drag their heels when it comes to dealing with BlackBerry updates.

Ok. But they should be confirmed that there will not be any problem during and after download.

I tried to down load this patch and also get the network error, but it does say it's only required if you are experiencing android runtime errors which I am not experiencing. I have deleted android apps and they seem to be gone i.e. icon is removed and in Snap they are gone from the 'installed' tab but, as expected, show in the available tab.

Could it be that I am getting the error because of some pre-check to see if my OS actually needs the update and sees I don't.

Note I never did revert back to the prior android runtime.
