It feels like the update did something to my android runtime though and now I feel it's faster. After the update, the runtime didn't work until after a couple restarts. Not certain though.

It's about the right size for it, but they've never pushed an update that way. It should be either a new OS build entirely, or a BBW update. I will look into this some more.

What is the build number of your android runtime? Mine is 10.3.3.213 confirm if it's the same via android setting- about phone

Carrier apps aren't 90MB.

Mine was 885MB and I haven't restarted my device yet but I can guarantee you that after I restart my device the Telus app will be there.

It can't just be the carrier app.

OP, did you touch the Android runtime or any other pre-installed apps before this? The first launch and Android runtime are both about 85MB, so that seems probable.

Nope I didn't. After the update, tried to use an android app and the green band showed up and got stuck. Tried every app until I rebooted and hard rebooted.

Well my friend, help me figure this out. I had to reinstall the OS tonight cause earlier in the day that 10.3.3. symptom struck again. Couldn't connect to the blackberry network, making a phone call was a hassle, etc. I received a message moments later telling me about the 1463 update the is 885mb (and mind you, the Telus application was NOT on my Z30), so I updated it. Had to restart the device so it can finish the installation. And there it is, the Telus application. The mic is yours, Thurask...

If you seriously think that the Telus app is the only thing in 885 MB, then go right ahead. That you toasted your OS and had to redownload it is probably why it's 900 MB anyway. Reports of 10.3.3-10.3.3 OTA updates tend towards 800-900 MB, so did you install 2205 or something earlier?
