Is landscape in 10.3? I didn't see that in the main thread

While I'm loving the OS update, I'm sorry to report that universal landscape support is not in the latest leaked build (10.3.0.296) of BB10. That said, Michael Clewley, the BlackBerry product manager apparently in charge of this sort of thing, has confirmed that he understands the widespread desires for landscape support on Twitter.

Here's hoping that increasing landscape support is something both BlackBerry and the independent developers continue to prioritize.

Can you check and see if any of the default apps have added landscape? The ones that didn't have it yet? Such as BBM.

Michael said those will improvement but landscape may not come to homescreen.

There are two new BBM versions out there right now. The closed beta BBM on BlackBerry beta zone apparently supports landscape both when opening the app icon and when accessing it from the hub. I'm not in the beta test, but that's what's been reported.

There was also another BBM version that I just got from Zonablackberry last week. That one didn't enable landscape for me.

The clock app, the weather app, the contacts app, the calendar app, photo app, and Remember app all support landscape.

Music app does not.

Let me know if there are specific apps I missed that you're curious about.

Crazy since universal landscape was on my torch touch and if I remember correctly my Storm 1 and 2... Why are they giving us a hard time now giving us a feature everyone would use. In fact I could use my old phones upside down. That's one thing I want back, I hate fighting gravity

Thanks for the useful link. I'm happy to report that, when I went to the link, this idea is already under official consideration.

That said, I figured it wouldn't hurt to add another message and a thank you. ;-)

I have a feeling we may see this when 10.3.1 drops. A buddy of mine who works at BlackBerry mentioned some of the issues the developers were facing regarding landscape mode and it's because of the User experience. They'd have to change the swipe up and peek and a bunch of other UI design stuff to accommodate it. Hopefully in 10.3.1 we'll get this and a standard HDMI output for all BB10 phones so that the screen size isn't dependent on your model. I.e. Q10 hdmi output is smaller than Z10 and Z30 is the only one that actually fits a screen proper.
