Can I do this on my BlackBerry (Passport, 10.3)?

Pro tip: Add a signature to all outgoing text messages - TechRepublic

Thanks for clarification. Would be helpful for me as a business owner to provide contact info automatically...

    (or the odd promo, LOL)

With Rogers in Canada you can add a text signature with the my account app. Not sure about other providers tho.

Wouldn't such a signature add to your texts? So if your original message is 140 characters long it'd be split into 2 messages?

In the meantime, editing the word substitution might help you save some typing... I just set a custom word correction for when I type "testsignature" to the following:

    Let's see if this works...

I don't think most modern smartphone users know (or care) that they have a character limit (since iOS and Android automatically stitch multiple length sms)...

Confused about the articles warning on using too much data since SMS is not part of data far as I know.

SMS messages are charged by character count. Think it was 160 per SMS. Since most carriers offer unlimited texts now, it matters not.

In its heyday, SMS was the most expensive/lucrative per unit data transfer service.

    Thanks for that one... :-)

So the "enter" keypress (line break) survives in a word substitution scenario. Interesting!

It still matters to me because I'm still on a 200 text plan that's carried over from contract to contract since 2007.

However, my only constant texting use is with my wife, and I only hit that limit every 4-5 months.

We tried to add me to an unlimited family plan that she's on, but it was also when upgrading my contract to the Z10 I have now, where I was also extending my grandfathered unlimited data plan. Somehow the new texting plan didn't stick, and we never bothered to go back to just that part of the plan.

Or use SHIFT+Enter... avoids sending, gives you the line break! :-)
