I'm Canadian. When I travel to the States I can buy a roaming package from my provider this usually covers me.
I have been wondering something. I have heard when traveling to another country you can buy a temp smart card and use your own phone on another network. Is this true? And is this something that can be done with a z10 or q10.
    Thank you.
My other idea was to travel with only using wifi but then I obviously loose phone function. But bbm and email would work.
When traveling how can I make using a public wifi safer.

    Thank you.

I have been to a couple different countries and all I had to do was get a local sim card and minutes (unless you get a world plan that is usually way over priced). One of the easiest things you can do is encrypt your device to be safer on public wifi.

I am on Rogers with an unlocked BlackBerry and have a T-Mobile Sim Card. ATT works too as both have compatible frequencies.

    I see
Unlocked for sure then would be required. I will have to see about how to unlock a z or q.
But then what about doing the sim card idea in Europe. Rogers phone.
    Thank you.

My phone is a Z10 locked on Verizon and worked just fine all over Europe.

I've heard the Roam Mobility works pretty well for canadians:

It requires an unlocked phone though.
