I'm due for an upgrade. I currently have a 9800 but the 9860 looks nice. Should I wait for BB10 or get the 9860? I also have a Playbook.

If you want a full-touch BlackBerry. Wait for BB10. I'm suspecting OS7 will die quickly once BB10 is out, especially the now discontinued full-touch devices.

I would wait for BB10 myself. Although I did just get a Bold last month, upgraded from 9810. It was well worth it,not so sure about the touch torch though.

I could not wait and got a great 9860. Pretty happy with it. I bought an unused second hand one with the stickers on it because I did not want to get in a two year contract, very good deal. Great device. I am sure I will sell it and get a BB10 phone as soon as they are released.
If you can wait, I would definetely wait otherwise you will be stuck in a two year contract with a great, but already old phone.
Sorry RIM, it is my humble opinion, just release BB10 ASAP.

If your 9800 is in good shape I would wait at this point. Maybe do a device wipe and reinstall all apps to make it feel new.

Depends if you can wait until RIM gets it to market later this year (late 3rd or 4th quarter) and than wait for App World to catch up.

I have a 9850 and like it (wife gave me the phone as she went Droid)

From seeing how RIM handled the PB and its offerings I would not wait for BB10 unless
RIM has fully changed its ways and the Devs are on board with BB10.

Yes... definitely wait until BB10 is out. In the long run you will be really happy with your decision. 9800 should definitely hold you off for a couple of months now. The BB10 phones will be wicked and make the 9860 seem obsolete. I just cannot wait for BB10 to come out... I mean BB10 has a chance of running on the 9800 as well (there were pics in that pdf Kevin had mentioned going out to partners a while back). BB10 will be absolutely wicked just you wait

Thanks for the responses. Looks like it's unanimous. I'll wait til it comes out! I'll just change the theme on my 9800 to tide me over

best advice you can get: do not listen to people who tell you to wait.
first, most if not all of them probably already have an os7 device.
second: there will always be something new to wait for.
third: if you do wait till bb10 comes out, people will start advising you to wait till the bugs are ironed out...
so you can wait forever or you can get an awesome 9860 right now.

it is a great phone and well worth it.

I may be a little biased towards my 9860 because I love it so much so I would say go get it. Its a great phone regardless of what some say. Regarding BB10, I have no desire for it and will wait until it's out for at least six months or longer before I even consider looking at getting one.

I shudder at the thought of reading though the forums once BB10 finally does drop. I fear the potential disappointment of these first buyers and the wave of complaints that will swarm us!

While I love my 9860, don't use your upgrade on it. Not worth it.

If you can, just get a 9860. Or the 9930. Like Sarcasm Detector pointed out, don't go by what people say. Take it into consideration, but make your own decision. Get one because you can and because you want. Enjoy what is out there "right now."

Because if you wait for BB10, all phones are going to have something wrong. Even the iPhone had issues when it came out. And as soon as BB10 takes out all the kinks, you'll still be waiting and when you finally decide to get it, for all we know BB will come out with yet another latest and greatest, like maybe BB11 or BB12

    Enjoy life now. Get some.

I would personally wait for the BB10. I just upgraded to my 9860, and though I'm loving it, suddenly wished that I had waited with my 9780 for a while longer and for the BB10 to be released.

Don't get me wrong. The 9860 is a great device, but judging from all the hype and news around BB10, it will be even better...

9860 is a big step up from the 9800, and I really love my 9850. I thought I'd be disappointed with the plastic screen. Not even close. I love the curved contours nd always use a screen protector anyway (ghost armor is clear and remarkably scratch resistant). Itsso much faster than os6, great browser, great screen, mech buttons are just fine (also surprising).

All that being said, at THIS point, I would wait, unless you can buy one on the net. I'm still going to try to jump to os10 when it comes out, even though I'll only have a year or so with the 9850.

dont listen to all the mumbo jumbo, the blackberry 10 phones wont be out till 2013, trust me when i say this .look at the past bb announcements, they always put things on hold. i just got a 9850 on ebay for 202.00. what a great phone very unxpected.what a differance compared to my 9800.If you wait you will be waiting for quite a while.this 9850 is thinner than the bold 9930.i am very glad i made the switch. my contract ends june 2013.thats when i will be getting bb10. all the bugs and complaints should be known by then. get the 9860 ,it will make you happy sooner than later.

I was trying to make the same decision as the op. I ended up buying a barely used 9860 on Ebay so I wouldn't lose my upgrade in case the BB10 phones are released on time. I love the 9860! Huge difference from the 9800!

Its not worth waiting for BB10 since that will be a while and lot of kinks they have to work through like making Android apps capable. 9850 is a nice device and at this point comes as close to Android and Apple we can get. Its not perfect but certainly better than previous BBs. Remember you will never be able to keep up with new devices coming out.

I went to the 9850 from and 8530, and it was like Christmas Day. I really like the phone, and it truly is comparable to an Iphone 4. Best thing of all is that you can get really good deals on them right now.

i also went from an 8530 to an 9850. A lot will depend on your cell phone service provider. I am with Alltel. They told me they will not be getting the Bold 9930, so I went with the 9850. Alltel is slow to get new phone, especially new Blackberrys. I kind of figured I would upgrade now and they might have the BB10's in 2 years when I can upgrade again. The touch screen is different from the physical keyboard I was use to. However I am very happy with the phone. BB7 OS is a lot better than BB5 OS. You will happy with a 9850/9860.

The more I use the Scorch (ahem, Torch 9860), the more I like it.

Personally, I think it's a worthy competitor to iPhone - but not the newer Droids.
