This is honestly the best solution as it'd hit 2 birds with one stone; Emoji support and optional keyboards. Let me explain

The optional keyboards would be available through BlackBerry World after being reviewed similar to Headless apps. This would lead to many different optional keyboards such as Swiftkey.

And for the Emojis, the optional keyboards could implement an Emoji chooser like with IOS. So BlackBerry won't even have to make it themselves!

This is definitely the best solution. Third-party keyboards are already available on every platform buy BB10, this should change. Who else agrees?

The problem with third party keyboards is that so much sensitive data goes through the keyboard. Just implementing the interface opens up a huge attack surface.

And that's why i said it'd have to be reviewed by bb first. Just like they did with headless apps

And I said just implementing the interface increases the security risk. Vetting existing. Third party keyboards does nothing for preventing someone from abusing the interface.

If someone managed to get past the approval for headless applications, it would be bad, but not anywhere near as bad as someone getting access to system wide key press data, or being able to inject key presses into the system.
