I don't know how well the 9700 and descendants sold. I'd buy a bb10 version.

The chances are not high, even the qwerty bb10 devices are meant to be touch devices first and foremost and that would be tricky on a smaller device, not to mention that the growth won't be there to support multiple bolds in addition to a qwerty bb10 curve.

imagine having to try to hit a link with your finger on that tiny screen. remember bb10 devices will not have a trackpad. would be more frustrating than anything.

Good points. So, from here on it looks like every touch, every Bold, every Curve(!) will be big. How quickly things change.

9700 was a huge seller. Don't think 9780 was. I think 9900 sucked the life out of it in the marketplace. I liked that form factor too (battery was something to behold on 9700) but I wonder how much fun a touch screen would be on that?

In a few years, who knows what we'll see? I very much doubt touch screen is the only future in ui.

I am doubtful of a "baby Bold" as you would call it. If there is a similar looking Bold/N-Series/X10 released later in 2013, it will be a mid or lower end device in the lineup of devices.

I would assume "baby" Bold is simply a Curve. But anyhow, I loved my 9700, but my 9900 is amazing as well

Nah, if you look at something like the 9790 there is clearly a difference between a baby bold and a curve with the former only cutting size to offer a slightly different form factor, whereas with a curve the specs are cut to meet a particular pricepoint with no implication of size difference.

I've only seen one 9780 IRL, and that was in a Wal*Mart store somewhere down south. It really didn't leave a big footprint as far as BlackBerry goes.

I concur. I just don't see a small-screen format touch taking hold in any big way.

It was a much more popular model outside North America as shown by there being sufficient demand to release the 9790 in addition to the 9900.

Have you seen Total Recall (2012)... that would be the new generation of phones... not bigger but integrated

It would be interesting to see how they sold people upgrades to that idea, the 2035 iphone with new 6th finger technology or the latest Android where your own hand would be replaced with a baseball glove.
