    Hello,

I'm looking to see if there is a way to extract an app (.bar file) from your existing device. I've search through the forums, but I haven't been able to see anything other than installing .bar file through side loading.

The reason I ask, there is an update for a specific app that is running on all 3 devices I currently have and don't want the update on a new device I just got (Passport SE).

If I can extract from any of my current devices, I would be able to side load that version of the app to my new device.

Looking forward to hearing from the subject matter experts out there!! :-)

    Cheers!

Ok, can you explain the process please? Cause I use Sachesi and do not see any way to do this using that program.

    Cheers!

    Hi Conite,

    Thanks for replying so fast!

That's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure. So i guess the only way would be to do a custom backup of that app only and restore to the new device?

    Your thoughts?

    Cheers!!

I extracted the BBM bar from 2876 , so why can't you find the OS you want or plug your phone in and make sure the bar file you want is the only checked. And hit the d/l

Never mind I see he wanted an app. I thought he wanted one of the bar files from the OS.

    Sorry

You won't be able to restore the app to another device unless you are using the same BBID.

Also, the OS of the restoring device must be the same or newer from the backup.

Ok, well the BBID will be the same and I will be restoring to the same OS on the new device.

So i will do the above this will seem to be the only way to do it.

Thanks for the feedback and the help.

    Cheers!

Then why not do a device switch using BB Link, rather than trying to backup and restore, which always seems to lead to more issues?

I've only used device switch when I went from my 9800 to Z10 and don't really remember the process.

So if I do a device switch, will it only carry over the settings of email accounts and other general settings and only the apps?

Settings do not get carried over and apps from BB World get carried over with your BB ID.

Additionally there's a device switch app in BB World, which can be done over wifi.

Details of what it will and will not transfer is here:

As I read through the details, I see that won't be able to keep the version of one app that I have now.

There is an update in BlackBerry World for that app and I do not want to update it.

So I think I will have to do a custom backup of that app specifically and restore it on the new device.

I believe this would the only way to do it.

    Cheers!

Ok, how do I extract the 10.3.2.110 runtime .bars, from my q10 with saschi, I want to replace conites .13 with .110 as those run so fluid for the apps I need on my q10, yet another downgrade that is an upgrade if even possible but from reading we can do this as this is a system app? I see it, just have no idea, do I have to plug both devices? Once I unplug the q10 how is it going to install 110 (os 10.2.3.556) runtime .bars over my .13 runtime bars on my passport? Help?..

These are system apps, not 'apps"...

Any help appreciated, I have used everything but Saschi, have it up and downloaded, see the bars I am after but no way to grab them.

You can, you can't, you can, you can't! Oh, you can and you can't! Then you can if it's a system app, perfect that is what I am after on my Q10 but this Saschiwanahana program is for the birds. Will let me grab links or down. 231 runtime but not the. 110 runtime on my actual device. I don't get it. Deleted. If it isn't on crackberry it doesn't exist or is not possible in my eyes I tried for three hours to pull those two tiny .bar files sys.android-110 to DDPB onto my passport as there is a difference, dunno why, don't care but a core duo Q 10 runs Voxer and other apps way faster then. 13 aka ART 231 so wanted the. 110 art files from 10.2.556 that is on my Q10 in front of me. It's a circus.
