I would want to be alerted (audible) if a specific contact tries to contact me on my mobile, even when I'm in a meeting or (otherwise) have put my phone on "silent" or "vibrate only". I did set a special ringtone for the specific contact, which normally works and alerts me that this contact is trying to contact me. However, when I put my phone to "silent" or "vibrate only", the audible tone doesn't come through. The specific notification screen for the contact then states: "Notifications for this contact are affected by your current global notification settings".

Is there any way for a specific contact to override such "global notification settings", with or without a 3rd party application?

    Short answer is it's coming.

Legacy bbos had this as part of custom profiles.

Custom profiles are coming back in 10.3.1
Now I haven't personally played with the new 10.3.1 but I would have to assume they would be pretty similar to the legacy ones.
