voLTE? That's voice over LTE. It's when voice traffic is also sent over the LTE network, instead of a lower (HSPA+, 3G, 2G, etc.) network.

    Which phone do you have?

Voice over lte actually. The carriers are trying to keep their customers from going to "over the top" = VoIP.

All BB10 phones with LTE support VoLTE, and carriers are starting to move customers with compatible phones to VoLTE, which is a necessary step towards the eventual decommissioning of all legacy (non-LTE) wireless services, following which those legacy frequencies will be converted to LTE usage to improve coverage and service/speed for everyone.

Actually, all of them do. It's in the OS. It's carriers that don't support it on BB10.

Shawn, before you're on a call or a few seconds after it ends, I'm guessing your phone shows LTE for network. But while you're in a call, what does it show--LTE or H+ ?

I'm actually in the process of porting to Telus within the week or so. I'm already on Koodo which is the Telus budget brand and my Z30 stays on H. For what it's worth I am in Ontario so it needs to be specified which province is showing volte. It may very well be a regional pilot.

Yep, that's a telltale sign of voLTE. Congrats!

In additional to a regional pilot, it could also be a per-device enabling: Z10s may be whitelisted for it, while Z30s may not be.

It's certainly possible for carriers to whitelist entire range of devices though. That's what my carrier--T-Mobile US--had BB do for WiFi calling (a 'sister' technology to IMS voLTE.)
