The BlackBerry service of Telekom Germany just anwers my question when the rollout of beginns: It starts on July 14 in Europe, Telekom Germany will release 10.3.2.2339 for their devices.

    Orginial email below:

    "Sehr geehrter Herr XXX,

Details of the device changes are in the following article:
    Title: BlackBerry Protect Anti-theft Protection
    Link: KB36737-BlackBerry Protect Anti-theft Protection

The Note to administrators is covered in a separate specific KB:
Title: BlackBerry Anti-theft Prevention in BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.2 - A Note to Enterprise Administrators
External link: KB37154-BlackBerry Anti-theft Prevention in BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.2 - A Note to Enterprise Administrators

What do you need to know?

With the new BlackBerry Protect Anti-Theft feature there is the potential for a device to get in an unusable state where enterprises are to swapping a device from one user to another. This will occur:

    • If a device has been wiped from a BES Administrator command (wipe device), from BlackBerry Link or by entering the Password incorrectly 10 times and the BBID of the device owner is not known (while BlackBerry Protect Anti-theft enabled is enabled). Then even after the Wipe the next user will be prompted for the BlackBerry ID that was previously used.

Workaround: If a user wipes their own device with BlackBerry protect Anti-theft enabled – they will be prompted for their BBID password. Once entered the device will be wiped and the user will be logged out meaning the device could be passed onto another user (or sold on in the case of a consumer device).

What Controls/Process options are available ?

    1) Ensure in a Smartphone swap scenario that BlackBerry Protect is turned off or the owner of the device performs the wipe themselves entering their BlackBerry ID password (meaning they will be logged out and someone else can use the device)
    2) If using a Gold License in either Work space only, Work and personal – Regulated activation modes - BlackBerry Protect can be controlled (allowed or disallowed) by an administrator using a BES IT Policy (details in the second article above)

When is BlackBerry 10 OS 10.3.2 releasing?

Release planned in Germany and Europe in mid-July

Note: IT Policy and controls are available in both BES 10 and BES 12 to Block device OTA updates for customers using Gold License (in either Work space only, Work and personal – Regulated activation modes). This can be used for customers who wish to review the updates prior to allowing their user base to upgrade.

Why is BlackBerry making this change?

This change adds an extra layer of consumer protection – this is a requirement for US consumer protection legislation (expected to follow in UK, Europe and the rest of the World). Other Smartphone providers have similar controls in place.

    What is BlackBerry Protect?

BlackBerry Protect is a product that allows BlackBerry users to perform certain functions using a web browser such as showing the location on a Map, sending an Alarm sound, display a custom message on the Lock Screen.

Thanks for the info. I'm a bit confused because I have an unlocked Passport (from amazon.de) an didn't receive the update yet. But there's hope, according to your post. Hoping that the update will be released for all devices and all carriers.
The 14th was yesterday, so it should be with us today, I think.

The Magenta folks seem to be right on track. No sign from Vodafone Germany so far.

Heard something over the grapevine that the latest build was flawed and caused to put a hold on the roll-out.

Time will tell. My Classic runs flawless with extraordinary battery life. So not missing anything so far.
