Switched from Telus to Rogers and my device password was removed

I had an interesting thing happen to both my Z10 and Z30 yesterday when I inserted my new Rogers SIM card (was on Telus prior to that). On both devices, after inserting the SIM card, the device no longer had a password set and it changed my wallpaper. The wallpaper is not a big deal but the fact that the devices lost their password is. To me this is a huge security hole. This tells me that should my phone get lost or stolen, all one needs to do to gain access to it is change the SIM. Has anyone else experienced this?

A year ago, I switched my Z30 from a Rogers simcard to a Bell simcard.

There was no change in either my device password or my wallpaper.

I'm afraid to say that what you have described:

(1) shouldn't have happened and

(2) tbh strains credulity.

SIM cards can control both the post boot splash screen and of course the SIM password/PIN.
Using a new SIM card can account for both changes.

Are you sure it was the device background and password that changed/disappeared and not the post boot splash and SIM password?
