Snap and Insta10 crash now for me on unlocked BlackBerry Classic, other than that seems good. Got rid of AT&T contact sync always popping up when opening contact app also.

Anyone else get a 4mb update after the big one?

    I just did.

I find that the Android run time took a lot less time to load now. My apps from play store seem to be working still, but some are loading slower maybe? Might try to uninstall and reload if it continues.

I don't notice browser improvements yet.

Does anyone not have the 'add facebook' in accounts?
Just as I suspected - they've removed the (still working) facebook app's hub integration and replaced the app with a web shortcut?

Good reason to skip this update.

    As always, smooth as butter.........

I don't even remember how to load this stuff on my Z30 (yes, Verizon will make us complain to the FCC as we did for the Priv!).

I want a NON-destructive load and really have forgotten how that is done. Sachesi and something or other?

    Sachesi and Blitz.

I've never used Blitz. It's supposed to be easier than Sachesi because you just run a monolithic file. (But since some 3rd-party puts those together I prefer to run the stuff that comes directly from BlackBerry)

    Basic steps for Sachesi:

    1. Get modern version of Sachesi (I am using 2.02, not sure if it's latest)
    2. Download Core OS specific for your device (eg Z10/Q10/Z30/Leap/Passport/etc)
    3. Download radio specific for your device and carrier
    4. Download either the "Debrick" OS file or a bundle of all apps put together by a user (I do the former)
    5. If you downloaded the Debrick, SPLIT it in Sachesi into a signed file, then EXTRACT all the app BAR files from the signed file.
    6. Put all the app BAR files except for wallpaper* and BBM* into folder 1
    7. Put the wallpaper* and BBM* app BAR files into folder 2
    8. Put the Core OS and radio files into folder 2
    9. Connect your device to computer, launch Sachesi - if Sachesi shows your list of installed apps, then it's linked
    10. Use "Install folder" to install folder 1 as prepared in step 6 (this will take a long time, there are ~242 apps to install)
    11. Only if step 10 completes without errors, use "Install folder" to install folder 2 (device will restart once this completes)
    12. If you get any errors, come back here and post them.

If you need a stable system then definitely don't be an early adopter.

Though I think this is a little different than most updates. I suspect it may be the last update we ever see for BlackBerry 10. It is 99.9% bugfixes, very little in the way of new features.

So the risk is probably a little less than usual.

    BlackBerry Assistant Improvements

Ever since BlackBerry brought out the BlackBerry Assistant the voice dialing feature became useless to me, and I had issues with the other Assistant features as well. (Such as not being able to find/launch any app - this was probably some sort of failure in db update during OS update)

    The issues were:

    1. Cannot recognize/dial ANY contact which has no person name, eg a company record like "General Electric". Always comes back saying it cannot find the contact.
    2. Cannot dial a specific type of phone number of a contact (eg "Work", "Home" unless I already know which entries exist)
    3. Cannot distinguish between multiple entries per phone number type, eg if I have a record with more than one "Home" or "Work" phone number, the only way I could voice dial it is if I recited the entire number from memory. (In other words: useless)
    4. No voice feedback in situations like #2 above, Assistant just silently sits there and fails.

    What has changed?

Compared to the official OS for STL100-4 (Verizon Z10) Software Release 10.3.2.2514 / OS 10.3.2.2789:

    • Still cannot dial any contact where there is only a "company" entry.
    • I can now dial contacts with multiple types of phone entries without knowing beforehand if more than one exists, the Assistant will voice-prompt me when there are multiple choices. (I still have to know whether to answer "Home", "Work", etc.)
    • If there are more than one entry for a phone number type ("Work 1", "Work 2") it will now prompt me to select, but I cannot figure out how to distinguish them by voice. "Work 1" or "Work 2" labels don't seem to work. Maybe there's a trick.. I can still pick an entry visually on the display but this defeats the purpose of voice-dialing which should work sight-unseen.
    • In an error condition, eg if there is no result for the request, I will get a voice error message, eg "No entry found" rather than Assistant just sitting there silently and failing.

So while there are some improvements here, sadly BlackBerry Assistant is still basically useless to me for voice dialing. The old Nuance system not only allowed me to voice dial contacts only listed with a company name, it also allowed me to direct it to call "Work 1" or "Work 2", which worked reliably once I figured out which ones it designated as which.

The app launching feature does now work, tho I suspect that issue (which other people had reported as well) was an artifact of a bad update process somewhere along the line, not a fundamental issue with Assistant itself.
