The problem is swiping. I'm in an email landscape mode. I want to go to the homescreen, where do I swipe. I have to rotate the phone then swipe. I want to stay in landscape and switch apps without rotating.

It's a stupid gripe I admit but an option that could be added and disabled if the user prefers would be great.

Not stupid at all Imo. If I'm watching a video with the z10 propped up in my transform case and I want to check a new message that just came in, or switch to a different application, then I often end up having to (in landscape) swipe from right to left rather than the standard bottom to up swipe. Also, all the active frames's text are rotated. It's very inconsistent Imo.

The screen view and gestures should be relative to the orientation of the screen.

It seems pretty straight forward and obvious to me. UX Design 101.

Landscape mode is necessary. It's a annoying when I swipe up from a landscape email or web page and the home screen is in portrait mode.

I'm overjoyed at all the support this thread is getting.

    Kudos to all!

    Let's hope BlackBerry sees this!

It's this basic function lacking that gives the impression that BlackBerry 10 is unfinished.
It is annoying that they can't seem to fit this in and it doesn't show off BlackBerry in a good light

I could be wrong but does the iPhone have a landscape home screen?

Do most Android phones have a landscape home screen ?

The answer to both is no!

So that means BBRY should just copy the others and do nothing different?

I'm not blaming them for not having it at launch or even now...

I just think it is due for a true "mobile computing platform" by 10.3 or 10.4.

My outdated old out of touch 9850 does this. I don't know why a modern phone can not.

I just got my Z-10 today after a 6 months of an Android phone, my first none BB smartphone. I actually might send it back. After 3 other BB with landscape home screen and now the Z-10 don't have it, I might as well keep my Razr maxx HD.
