    Hi

Still getting used to using the Z10 touchscreen keyboard.

How do I start a new line whilst texting or whilst using bbm?

    Have you tried shift+return?

There isn't a return key, just a send key.

shift + send just sends the unfinished message.

there isn't a return key. It's not obvious how to do this, I'm sure there must be a way though.

edit: there isn't a return key on the Text Message keyboard. For emails, there is. For texts, it's replaced with SEND.

There is absolutely 100% no way to do this now. It is rumored to be resolved in the next software update.

For now the only workaround is to cut and paste a line break from another app.

For now, I type my longer messages in 3rd party Memo Pad app and copy/paste.

Why would you need to put a line break in a text? I'm trying to think of a case when I'd need it, but can't come up with anything (not saying there isn't a reason).

    Lol.

Again it comes down to just cause you don't use it...doesn't mean others don't. I used it all the time.

My son has Galaxy S3 , text messaging looks a lot more exciting compared to Z10.

None of my auto text / word substitutions work within text app.

I have a solution for you maybe add a line break as a word substitution for xx to insert it?

Unfortunately that doesn't work as Word Substitution also doesn't work in text (regardless of whether you have it turned on in settings or not). But that's irrelevant because there is no way to put a line break in Word Substitution. You can Only put the substitution on a single line.

The ONLY way to do it right now is to cut and paste from another app.

Spacebar to the end of line. The next keystroke goes to the next line.

Thats not the same thing. If the recipients phone shows more or less characters per line then it will either not be on a new line or it will start halfway through the next line.

Or even on your phone if you turn it to landscape it is no longer on a new line.

I also don't really see the reason why you would need to start a new line.
If it's for suspense, just send the message, send a couple of blank messages, then continue your message.
Heck, my friend sends me sentences that are split up in to several messages sometimes.

Dude, there's good reasons. Don't argue.

Known bug, presumably will be fixed.

How was this forgone when they were putting together the OS? BlackBerry is #1 for messaging... how did they not pay attention when it came to a messaging feature?

Not trying to argue. I just honestly can't think of a scenario where you would need to do this in BBM or text.

Tap the space bar so the cursor goes to the far right. When it disappears, bobs your uncle. The next time you type it will be on the line below

    Hello guys and gals
looks like i have found the solution to your problem.
It had been bugging me for a long time as well. I would just press the space key many times to get to the next line. Now i have the soultion: Type whatever u want and to move to the next line press the key next to and on the left hand side of 0. This will take you to the next ,ine without sending the message. Easyyy righ now, whats the bonus for solving this issu for u all
