I am in New Zealand and have an unlocked Passport. It is running software release 10.3.1.1779. The os version is 10.3.1.2576. Can anyone tell me what the difference between these two is? If I go and check for latest updates I am advised that I have the latest OS. How is this as the phone is unlocked so surely I should be getting this latest update. Advice would be appreciated. I just love this Passport. My wife uses an iPhone at work and her old Bold eventually died so we have replaced it with a Q3. She just loves it and reckons it runs rings around the iPhone.

When you say "unlocked", is this carrier-unlocked or factory-unlocked? Factory-unlocked devices (i.e. purchased directly from shopblackberry/amazon) are already receiving the 10.3.2 update but if your device is carrier-unlocked (i.e. originally purchased from a carrier but is unlocked so you can freely move between carriers) then you might not have the 10.3.2 update yet (it depends on the carrier).
My understanding is that the Software Release # is produced by looking at both the OS Version and the Radio, for more info see here: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...lained-919663/
I'm not sure what exactly a Q3 is (Q5?), but no matter what device you have your options for getting the 10.3.2 update are either to load it yourself or be patient and wait for the carriers to push it to you.
If you want to load the 10.3.2 OS yourself, you can do this 2 ways - you can use an autoloader (the cleanest method but you will lose your data), or you can do a non-destructive update using Sachesi or Darcy's Tools.
For autoloader instructions see here: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...loader-927076/
For Sachesi instructions see here: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...achesi-904841/
For Darcy's Tools see here: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...-tools-956835/
    Hope this helps!

    Should I update?
Yes, 10.3.2.2226 (10.3.2.2339 OS) appears to be the most recent & stable build.

The thing is why would we get and install - as I did from
Blackberry - the update 10.3.2.440 only to now get an update 10.3.2.2226 from my carrier (VMC) which appears to be lower on the number pole ?

Thorstein. Many thanks for your comprehensive reply. Both the passport and q5 were purchased from an independent supplier and were there fore I Presume factory unlocked. No network sells BlackBerry phones in NZ and the official BlackBerry site says there is no official carrier support in NZ so I suppose I just have to sit here and wait. All the other alternatives seem too complicated to me even tho I manages to load Google playstore and google play services as per Cobalts instructions. Once again many thanks
