After this all the excitement with Priv and Vienna. My question is : When are we going to get a new device with a regular BlackBerry keyboard ?

If any, not before 2016, with the uppermost optimistic approach.

Is it some kind of a joke ? Passport was released like over a year ago and now they gave that toy. What are people supposed to buy ?

I was just thinking about that earlier today. But I would settle with BlackBerry 10 on the Priv.

Would be a total disaster if they abandon the OS10.

Last news we had didn't figure any BB10 device for 2015.
I'm using circumlocutions because many forecast there will not be any BB10 device in the future.
Take it with a grain of salt, as we have no factual statement of BlackBerry about this.

There are not going to be anymore BB10 phones. All my discussion with BlackBerry personnel have told me the same thing.

IMHO, I think Blackberry 10 O/S will not be included on any more future Blackberry Smartphones. I think Chen is going the way of the Droid from here on in. Once he announces how many Droid Blackberry's were sold, we will know for sure but it looks like most are happy with the new thing. Its too bad all the Cell Providers in my area only have the Dummy Phones on display (if at all), I really wanted to try the keyboard on this slider phone but was told by numerous stores that I needed to buy one to try it. I think NOT!

Well, I hope they get to their minds and focus on real devices soon otherwise they are going to lose a lot.

They've already lost a lot. BB10 has cost billions in losses and not one cent of profit. There is no possible way to make BB10 profitable at this stage. The damage has been done. It's the Oldsmobile diesel of phone OS's. Public perception is dead and buried.

I've been called many things, but never a vague canard (I'll Google it later). FWIW, I don't like Android or iOS. No knowledge of Windows 10 Phone.

I really really really like BB OS10, and will continue to use it as long as possible. However, there are no indications that OS10 will continue past maintenance and security patches. No need for new devices for that. I hope to God I'm wrong. We'll all just have to wait and see.

My mistake I got your meaning backwards.
OP ppeters914 tells it like it is. Took some pain medication today and the side effects seem to be poor reading comprehension and a tendency to say things like ambiguous duck.

I would be very surprised if BlackBerry released another BB10 phone. When they say they are committed to BB10, they mean in terms of support and security updates only. They've made that abundantly clear.

Actively developing, supporting, and producing devices for 2 completely different mobile platforms makes absolutely no sense in terms of resource utilization and profitability, especially when BB10 devices have never sold in enough quantities to make them a single penny.

Enjoy the existing lineup of BB10 devices while you can, because I'm pretty sure that's it.

Why can't BlackBerry do a small batch of Privs with os10? It would not cost them that much.

So will governments buy 'secured' BlackBerry Androids? I don't see anything particularly secure except this PTEK app and all that does is tell you how many times your privacy is violated by apps.

So, if no more BB10 then does that mean no more secure devices to sell to governments and militaries?

This would be a lot of work. Custom drivers would have to be written for QNX. This is why the Z30 was a slight mod from the Z10&Q10. The Classic is identical to the Z30 from a driver perspective. The Passport is the odd one out, and unless the Priv HW is the same as the underlying Passport HW, it will be as much work putting BlackBerry OS 10 on the Priv as it would be to put on a Samsung or LG device. Moreover, if the rumors are true that BlackBerry has been shedding OS 10 developer talent, they may not have the engineering capability to do this in a timely manner even if they wanted to.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it. The Passport is an awesome device, BlackBerry OS 10 is hands-down my favourite mobile OS, but I don't see more OS 10 devices being released any time soon.

I'd bet that the Passport is BlackBerry's Avro Arrow. We should all enjoy it while it is relevant. At least it's a great device for BlackBerry OS 10 to go out on.

Sadly, I must agree with the general perspective here. I don't see a reason to keep BB10 going just for the sake of a relatively small market that truly appreciates it. I hope that the Priv is successful enough to inspire BlackBerry to evolve the BlackBerry Android UI and BlackBerry Android apps to provide as much of the BB10 experience as possible.
