Is this the last year we might get some small updates or what? Because devs have left already a few of them. That makes me feel angry but what the hell can we do. Sucks that I couldn't enjoy my passport more than three fkin months.

why can't you enjoy your Passport? doesn't it work? the only thing EOL means is no more OS updates. If your phone works now, why wouldn't it work for another year or more?

Well, Starbucks just informed me that as of Feb 17 , my app will no longer work. The only upgrade is on Google play. Last month it was PC Plus. I hate it, but these were my two most used apps. I have not been using the cobalt or sachie GPS, and don't really want to. I love bb10, love my Z30, but this is feeling grim.

Exactly, it just doesn't feel right. Makes you feel sad that you are being abandoned and can't use the latest version or the app at all. Makes you feel like you have a second playbook

Everyone better get used to this feeling. It's going to get worse day by day. If you depend on a Starbucks app to live your life then you have a problem. You can probably tell from this comment that I don't. My problems will begin when my banking apps stop working. Hopefully, I will get another year from my Passport then I can move on as I will be ready for another device by then anyway. If calls, texting and emailing are your primary needs, then the Passport that you bought 3 months ago, will serve you very well for a long time to come.

Some say it hasn't died yet.

    Others say 31 January 2013.

    Probably closer to the latter.

It might behoove you next time to put a little research into your buying decisions if that's the way you feel. Me on the other hand, would like to eventually pick up a spare Z30 just in case this one dies. Snap, and I assume Cobalt's solution as well, has brought just about all I could ever want to the BB OS10 eco-system, so for me, EOL is at least two years away. I suspect my PlayBook will be poking along at that time as well.

maybe. Pandora also told me I would have to use a computer to renew at their website, but I did it on my Classic in a minute.

Intend to use my passport for at least 2016, but once my news apps die like the independent that will be the end of the line. I can live without twitter and facebook tho I expect them to last like the browser.
Remember when apps stopped for the playbook.
Incidentally still use my pb as a browser but it's getting slower!

    Swiped on my beautiful Passport!

I think that we had the same feeling, when the legacy devices "died". Still using my B9700 from time2time and i still works. It is hilariously slower then the Classic though . I intend, to use the Classic until it fails completely. The world won't stop when the updates do...

I used my 9900 until it died, and then I tried to get a new one which was not all that easy bc BlackBerry had stopped production by then (yes, they started making them again later, but that's a different story.)

Looking at the phones that are available right now the Passport is the only one that I really like, and not only do I intend to use it until it dies but also beyond that point. Which means I will have to get me a second unit eventually. And since there is no way of knowing how long my current one will make it, I wonder how long BlackBerry will be producing the PP. If I know they no longer make them at some point in time I will most certainly buy me a spare one while I still can.

Any guesses when BlackBerry will stop production altogether?

The layoff doesn't mean they will stop operations. This always happens when there is an acquisition or merger. You get rid of redundant positions.

Normally that would be true. But in this case, mostly those involved with BB10 were the ones that got the pink slip.

BlackBerrry lost their faith in BB10 in September 2013, around the time they had to put the company up for sale.

BB10 devices will continue to work even when updates and support ends, I will use my passport/Q10 until they fail to meet my needs, I use a Nokia N9 Meego and support ended in 2012 and it still functions ok, so our BB10 Devices should be good for a few more years yet, look on the bright side and enjoy using probably the best OS while we can.
