I have a Z10 with 10.3.1.2267. A few times a day, i need to change the smtp port from 25 to 2525 and back, otherwise i cannot send emails. If i change the port, it works temporary and i have change it again. It occurs both on wifi and 3g.

The problem was also on the official z10 10.2 firmware. With an iphone i didn't have any problems.

    Any ideas/solutions?

Not really much information to go on. Who is your mail provider? Do they have a site that describes how to connect?

Sounds like an ISP email account without SSL connectivity. Like RB mentioned, who is the email provider?

Did you try port 25 as well? That would be the default smtp port. 2525 sounds like a typo for me.

Yes, i switch when 25 is not working to 2525 and back to 25 when 2525 is not working.

I would talk to the isp to check the logs. This would give you an idea if this is a phone or server site related problem.

Logs should tell if your phone is connecting and if so, why is it rejected.

My local ISP'S block port 25 except for their smtp servers to prevent open relays.

Are you also going back and forth between wifi and cell? Probably works on cell but not wifi.

Email issues only effecting blackberry, I'm highly skeptical!

Don't be, it does happen. Goes the other way too. I have servers that work well with my Z10 but give my iPad fits.

The most important thing is to try to get it working better for the user.

So as mentioned some ISP block all port 25 except to their servers to stop open relays. Other networks and some cell providers will block connections to ports above 1024 to try to prevent use they don't want to carry. It may be helpful to note what service (Wi-Fi or cell) and which provider you are on when you notice one or the other port doesn't work.

If my Dutch is as good as I think (probably not ) you have it configured correctly, thought they seem to specify 2525 for Android. They wouldn't do that if many of their mobile customers had problems. You may want to contact your home ISP or try a PC to see if they are blocking 2525.

Finally you should push hosting2go to join the 21st century and support TLS to their mail servers.
