If you are referring to the error on my screenshot which is "File is not a zip file", then i really don't know what causes that error. I have observed that a couple of apps do end up with that error. SideSwype is one of them. I have informed Rebellious about it.

Here is a link to the SideSwype bar file, so you can try it yourself
    https://sideswype.me/app/SideSwype.bar

Not a valid url to provide to sideload.it.

Clicking on that link did NOT prompt me for saving the file, it just went to https://sideswype.me/. So there is probably a "direct linking" block in play here.

Perhaps its https related. wget complained, even when I tried to download it without https. I'm guessing that .bar url's should be http only.

    >wget http://sideswype.me/app/SideSwype.bar

(Chrome doesn't report it as self-signed, I suspect that is wget limitation).

    Edit:
    wget https://sideswype.me/app/SideSwype.bar --no-check-certificate

    Only results in saving "index.html".

In summary, sideswype's web server is not allowing for a simple download.

If you go back to version 1.0.0.4, you NEED to manually edit the IP to your 192.168.79.x IP!!! Anything else is your cell or wifi interfaces, and NOT RIGHT.

And it's been confirmed that you need to download sideswype, put it somewhere else, and then specify the new url. You cannot use sideswype's url as I've shown above.

I downloaded the file and uploaded to my box account. Then I entered the link into sideload.it app. Same problem. This whole thing does not work. It never did for me once. The thing that works reliably is the VON connection. Never fails to connect.
At least I think it only works when on 10.3 OS.

I've tried it all, all you just mentioned. This is hopeless. My worthless Z10 will not do it.
I compared the ip address to the VPN IP address in the About Network screen. They match. VPN to sideload.it is up and green. I tried files from external sources as well as most of the ones on the sideload server. None of them do anything. It just sits there and eventually I get thrown off the VPN connection. Wifi or mobile network no difference. Battery is about gone now. I give up. This doesn't work.

No, I'm on 10.3.1.632. I'm surprised you are having all this trouble. I have it working on a Z10 STL 1 running 10.3.0.1418 and also, Z30STA100-2/10.3.1.632.

Yeah, and there is the problem. I'm on 10.2.2. I bet everybody who has it working is on 10.3. There is Android apps out there that will not work on 10.2 but will on 10.3. The APK Downloader doesn't work on 10.2 either.

Install any BAR files directly from the web
with no computer needed. Free of charge.

Created by me (no applause, please) , inspired by Guyzer.
Hopefully the name of the service speaks for itself with no further explanation needed. Though you might have some questions.

Question 1: Why is it free?
Well, the two of us believe people need to have an alternative whenever possible. We do know there are some websites offering this kind of service for some fee. So, this is our alternative to the services you know. We do not charge you anything for using our service, neither do we have any advertisement of any kind within our website or our app. But we would welcome any donations, event the smallest ones, that would show us that all we do is not in vain.

Question 2: How long will the free period last?
Forever. Another possible answer is "until we have donations/money and enthusiasm to run the server and pay for the domain name". So, basically, this depends on both our users and us.

Question 3: How can I use your service?
At our website we have a How To section, which describes the process of setting up the things to run properly. But the basic scheme is to download the APK app from Sideload.it | The easiest and free way to sideload apps to your BlackBerry 10 device and follow all the steps in the How To section (I guess there's no need to duplicate it here).

Question 4: Are there any restrictions when using your service?
Basically, there are only two restrictions. The first one is not to sideload pirated apps. As I cannot check if a certain bar file is pirated, this remains to be a moral obligation of those, who uses the service. The second restriction is not to abuse the VPN service, which is part of the system. In case VPN is abused, I will keep connection to the server only (with no further access to the Internet). In the FAQ section of the website we also ask not to abuse it, so I hope double mentioning will help. Please respect us for the work we have done to deliver the Sideload.it service to you free of charge and follow the restrictions we suggest.

Question 5: What shall I put into the fields of the app?
    For server name, put
    Code:
    http://sideload.it
for IP - the IP address assigned to you by the VPN server (can be found in the Network section of the About menu of a BB10 device). For dev mode password you insert the password you have chosen when enabling the developer mode (enable it before you proceed with installation of bar files - this is obligatory). For the file name or link, put the direct link to the file on the Internet (ending with .bar - this part is obligatory) or the name of the file you see in the list after pressing the "List files on server" button (the lower one). http and https links are accepted.

Well, I guess nothing else is needed to be explained. You are welcome to share your experience, views, suggestions and words of thanks here or at the BBM channel of Sideload.it - C0016A6EE or in Twitter . Questions are welcome as well.

    Enjoy Sideload.it.
    For free.
    =============
P.S. In several days I will publish the script of installation of a similar service at your own server - in case Sideload.it gets down for any reason you will be able to do the same on your own and use the remote bar file installation service for free with no interruption. Keep tuned in.
Dude! Love your idea! Love ur software!

I have it working on my Dev Alpha (half dead and not at all good even for testing - it is on 10.0.10.x) and even on my PlayBook. It really works. People on 10.2.1 confirm it's working. I wish I had a BB10 device to film everything and publish that on Youtube for everyone to follow every little step in case they are not attentive enough to read the instructions.
It is not the issue with the app. It is the issue with the phone and the user. Nothing personal. Yet, you continuously ignore my questions I ask you via PM about the issue and keep telling people here that the app is crap, and so is the service. If you were really interested in getting it to work properly, you would keep communicating with me and providing me with as much information as needed. Unless you do so, I am not able to help you.

I've not a techie, so I assume if others can use it so can I. I just need the support.

I appreciate your help. I would like to side load an app to video chat.

Ok people, I think uploading the .bar files to file share websites is the issue. When you go and click the link, you are taken to an html page that you then have to click on to download the file.

Need direct download to the file. Where when you click on the click in your browser, you're immediately downloading or prompted where to save it.

Occasionally I get a timeout message, but not anymore lately. I have managed one time to install Simple Browser. I went into some in depth troubleshooting with Rebellious and he could remotely install apps on my phone at will. However it fails when I initiate the install except one time it worked. There is something wrong with my phone, period.
