Sorry for possible misunderstanding with the release versioning. My simulator showed me it was 1.2 (so I need to make everything clear for me as well).
Another notice for those staying connected to the VPN for ages. Half an hour ago I was monitoring the server and noticed someone from the United Arab Emirates staying connected to the server for 4 hours. Falks, this is not the way it should be used. Please do not make us introduce any restrictions in the war for server stability. Sure, it would help for some of you, though a pain for others.

P.S. Small improvement to server is added. Now people with the same user names should have no trouble connecting to the VPN server.

Please feel free to try it. The procedure is tested on my own Playbook and works as expected. I only was too lazy to test the APK itself.
If it does not work, let me know and I recompile the app in order you could use it.
P.S. Keep in mind some bar files will appear incompatible with Playbook.

For those of you having "sideloadit.apk.zip" instead of "sideloadit.apk" - I guess it's OS 10.3 that makes this to you... I tested the file download on 10.2.1 and it is an APK, and for 10.3 I got the same file downloaded as ".apk.zip". So, just delete the extension using your favorite file manager for the file to be named "sideloadit.apk"
I also got the idea of the problem with versioning. Unlike BB development, Android stores version numbers in two values... Further updates will be OK now.

Re-download the app. It is updated with the ability to save the info input for server, device IP and password.
If you have suggestions concerning what shall be added to the app, feel free to share it. I will be making improvements constantly.

Tested and confirmed by me - from now on you need not to look for a free user name. You will be able to connect even if the same user name is already connected to server. Soon we will remove the unnecessary user names. Will keep you updated.

How about improving on the UI. Adding a progress bar showing the download percentage and file size would be greatly welcome.

For Q10 users, try converting the apk to a bar file and see if the incompatibility issue will be resolved.. just a thought though.

For the suggested progress bar - it is impossible, sorry. It is not the app that controls the download, but the server part. And it only sends the result. That is why progress bar is not implemented.
Sorry for Q devices. Truly saying, I have not tested the app on any 1:1 screen I will definitely have a look at this, and possibly rewrite the user interface in order for everything to fit the 1:1 screens. Be patient, please. Though no timelines, sorry.

For those of you having zip file instead of apk - it is strange for me to see this, as at the preparation stage I tested the app with both Android and BB10 (10.2.1 and 10.3) devices, and not a single one had such a problem... Compression and everything else is OK.
As for problem with connection, try another user out of the 100 usernames I offered. I am working on making it possible to connect with no need of searching for a free username. Also, try using wifi instead of you cellular network - this could help you detect if this was a server or a your ISP network issue.

It's the mimetype on your server most likely.

You were not attentive while reading instructions. You put the localhost IP address. But the instruction tells you to put the VPN IP address, which for you would start with 192.168.79.x (just have a look at the screenshot several posts above yours).
